Jtag Gone Bad, Incorrect Ldv, Rrod, No Video
« on: August 21, 2010, 11:23:00 PM »

I was attempting the jtag mode on my falcon, and am able to get good read and writes using lpt. When I attempt to write xell or xellous, the write completes with no errors, and the machine gets an e79 on boot.

I am assuming its bad jtag soldering, as I have built and flashed xell/xellous several times. I resoldered to the bottom of the board, using This Method., but still receiving e79.

I have a good partial backup of my 6690 dashboard. I updated my dashboard to 7371, as it is recommended in all tutorials. I then attempted to reflash xell without making a new backup, thinking my current backup would suffice.

Now I am in a state where xell still e79's, and when I flashed my orig.bin back I get a hyper flashing power led, followed by rrod 3 lights, and no video. From my research its do to the ldv values being incomplete.

Here is a guide to patch the nand dump with the cpu key, to fix the ldv's. I have the partial backup of the 6690 and a good kv backup, but nothing else.

I am almost to the point where I just want to send the box to someone to complete the jtag properly, and see if they can boot xell/xellous, get a full backup, inject the partial backup, correct the lvd values, and flash freeboot.

Unless there is something else I can do. I am about 95% sure my jtag wiring is correct, but it appears I am incorrect.

If you updated to 7371 via a disc or whatever, then that will not cause any problems. The only time you'll get a non-JTAG'able 7371 dash is if it was manufactured after 6/18/2009, or was repaired by Microsoft around that time.
