How To Get Original Nand (noob)
« on: August 11, 2010, 09:55:00 PM »

I want to install the 9199 dash on my 360 but everytime I use flash360 to get the nand file from my console, the freeboot toolbox gives me an error when I use that file. Is there a wya to get my original nand file without opening my xbox?

I've tried f360 to get the NAND, but whenever I try to use that file, freeboot toolbox says I didn't extract it properly halfway through.

Sorry for the double post, but I can't seem to edit my previous one. This is my exact procedure:

Extract the menu file and flash360.xex
Put both in the root of my USB
Go to xex menu, navigate to USB, and press A on flash360
Press X for NAND Dump
Press A (and B - I've tried both the full NAND and the flashable NAND to no avail)
Once it's extracted, I remove the flash drive
open freeboot toolbox
Enter CPU key, checkbox Jasper 512MB, click generate
It asks me to locate the nand file, and I point it to the root of the USB drive
It gets to 38% and then I get this error:

Could someone let me know what I'm doing wrong?

toolbox only works with original files, do as linsonchan use nand to fb maker instead of toolbox.

I get it, but my JTAG was done by someone else but I don't know how to get in contact with them to get the original NAND.

I found this tutorial, but could someone explain to me steps 7 and 8?

7.) cd to the freeboot root directory ("cd *\xbr to freeboot") and paste:

8.) ibuild x -d data\ -b "1BL Key" -p "CPU Key" bin\flashdmp.bin
"1BL Key" replace it with the 1BL Key
"CPU Key" replace it with your CPU Key

What I did to solve this problem:

Open the nand.bin in 360 flash tool. Hit edit config then click edit then, without changing anything, hit save. Save the file over your original (or if you are really skittish, something else) then proceed to open the file with freeboot toolbox. The progress meter should now blow past that 38% mark without the error.

I don't know why this works but it always did for me.

Ok so alot has happened between the last time I posted. I extracted my KV and SMC files using 360 flash tool and found a dummy smc_config file from another tutorial. I continued the tutorial exactly and after finishing it: red ring of death? How do I revert back to xbr? I tried putting my original flashdump.bin into my flash drive by itself and then booting into xellous but no luck - still 3 red lights.

The 38% issue I found is sometimes related to the version of windows you are running,  I have better success with XP more then anything. Luckily if you Windows 7 ultimate you can use xp mode.
