Putting a fresh unedited default.xex usually solves the problem. When i say unedited, I mean modifications of any kind and all kind.

tried that, still incompatible version.
i had to patch my mw2 manually.
does x360gamehack have anything to do with it, tho?
i know freeboot is region free and all but i do x360gamehack scans just incase.

If you use xbox360gamehack on a game, it counts as modification. If any file has been touched ie xex's and dll's, updates will give you problems. I had the same problem as you and then i put a completely fresh and completely untouched mw2 onto my hdd and the error went away.

Just spent half an hour renaming .xex's to .xex.gamehack and .xex.orig to .xex
It's working so far, though.
