Noobie Jtag Questions
« on: July 07, 2010, 08:37:00 AM »

Ok since I posted i realized a few things.
The memory channel or Xbox 360 as a whole will only recoginize up to 16 gig. When u plug the 2 terabye HD back to the computer, it shows correctly and its a FAT32. (do  to XBOX 360 formating the drive and putting what it needed on the drive.) I can move files to the drive when hooked up to a computer, etc....

Anyhow, here is my problem now.

My XBOX 360 20 gig hd works when i transfer my XBLA games or copy a XBOX DVD GAME to the drive. 0000000000 folder for an example.

Anyhow, my 2 terabyte drive... (2 tera MY BOOK essentinal Western Digital external) will not show up in XBOX menu as any games found. (even when i put the games in the same place as the other drive)
I also tried taking out of the XBOX 20 gig hd and just letting the XBOX see/boot my USB external drive and still nothing.
What am i doing wrong?

Also,
When I formatted the 2 tera drive it says it may not be up to quality for XBOX specifications, etc... It also said that on another external hd i have thats new. (SEAGATE FreeAgent Desktop External 500gig)

Thanks for your help.  I'm almost there.

Also, what is a good program front end to see your games installed nicely, vs. using XBOX RECENT GAMES within the dashboard?

You can't run games off of anything besides an HDD hooked up to the standard HDD SATA connection if you're using NXE. You need to use XEX Menu or FSD to boot games off of an external drive, and you have to rip them like back in the Xbox 1 days. They won't show up in your regular games list.

If you're trying to play XBLA content, try using XM360, it'll unlock the content for play, and you can even boot the game from NXE once its unlocked.

I just use Xex menu to boot up apps like XM360, etc., its not the most user friendly app, it was never mean to be one either, people prefer FSD over Xexmenu.

I see. I wonder why there is soder involved by using a 3.5 drive is it a power consumption rule or something. Brief explanation would be helpful. So pretty much any 2.5 SATA will work? Is it easy to put in. Just hook my official xbox Hd open case and find the SATA connector? I have heard of freeboot. I'll have to learn more about it online. Am I wrong but it appears only xexmenu is good for is to copy files across devices. Thanks.

here is a tutorial on installing a3.5 hard drive and yes it is a power issue with going from 2.5 to 3.5.
not all 2.5's will fit in the case but they will work with the connector in it.
and it's freestyle dash not freeboot just trying to save you some confusion

I see. So u guys know what currently the newest Fsd and Xm360 revision are? Xexmenu is at 1.1 right? Is it possible to have xexmenu or Fsd, xm360 loaded on the console instead of booting from discs?
