Un-modding Xbox360
« on: June 04, 2010, 08:06:00 AM »

HI, Sorry to bother u guys, but im new here and having a slight trouble!

I was given an Xbox 360 Elite Jasper NTSC-J. and seems to have the Hitachi/LG drive i think. I based my info off this website :

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php...he-XBOX-360-FAQ

Everything works fine. All games original and Burned. Problem is that the Xbox 360 seems to be modded. I dont knw how. It does not seemed 2 be chipped. I looked for that. Also when i turn on the Xbox360, it shows the original X in the white ball.. and the Xbox word under it in green. then goes to my Dashboard. What my problem is that I would like my Xbox to go back 2 the Original Settings so i can go Online. I have the Original Games. Iv never tried to go on Xbox live cause im worried it will get banned!

I have been reading for about 4-5 days about "unmodding/unflashing" xbox 360's and the best thing i found was the AID- Auto-Installer Deluxe, There seems to be a part here that says

>Install / Reinstall / Uninstall Softmod installations.

so, If i do this will this remove the Modd i have? Iv googled all over to see what Softmodd/ or Flash i have. but i couldnt find out what i have. Person i got the Xbox 360 from he dont knw either!

SO if i use AID and unistall Softmod Installation will it set my xbox 2 original settings? I dont mind losing all my game info or G points or whatever! I would just like my Xbox 360 to be normal and be able to go 2 xbox live!

IF anyone can help me fig out what kinda of modd my xbox has..or can just help me do like a hard reset that makes the xbox 360 go back to orginal firmware and remove anykind of mod and let me go 2 xbox live, that would be Greatly Appreciated

ALso i tried to find this file called configmagic to get some EE # but i couldt do taht either. I dont knw if this info helps but just trying 2 let u knw everything.

Also would like to add that everything seems to be stock, Dashboard and Booting, I heard somewhere, someone told me that only the DVD drive was flashed to play DVD Burned games. Dont knw if this is true or possible. but thats waht my xbox 360 seems to be. IT can play both Real and Fake DVD games. nothing else seems to be modded or chaged. I am using HDMI cabel to my HD tv if that info helps./

And i hope i posted this Question in the Correct Forum, cause it seemed correct to me. If i didnt sorry. would u mind telling me which one?

Also is this True: " If i sign into xbox live and it asks for me to update my xbox that the MOD will automatically go away and my xbox 360 will be fixed and be back to normal and dont have to worry and i can play my original games and go on xbox live?"

Kinda like when u update a unlocked iPhone to iTunes it sets it back to Factory settings~ Is this the same for Xbox360? I dont knw cause iv never even connected it 2 Internet cause i dont want it 2 become banned. Thanks..

Well, since you mentioned you have burned games plus originals, the only mod would be dvd firmware mod. The only way to go back to original is if your friend has copy of the original firmware before it was flashed, use that to reflash the drive back to original. But it sounds like your friend did not provide you with that copy. Then, in that case you're in tough spot because, the firmware that is on there now is detectable on Live.

You can probably download a copy of clean Hitachi FW, inject your matching key and reflash the drive back to stock.

you may get banned even if you flash it back if you have played backups on it I'm not sure

Ho boy, this should have been placed in the newbie forums.

Ohkay, you'll need "Connectivity Kit" made by Maximus, Diygadget, etc., next is a desktop pc with SATA ports, and then the app Jungleflasher. You have to take out the dvd drive out of the xbox and connect it to the PC. Read the JF tut and it'll show you how to get the key.

@pink1

You may be right, his console may have been flagged on the network, but GettoLoser, if your friend who gave the console to you has taken it online, the console may have been flagged for banning.

AID and Config Magic are for the Xbox 1, not the 360.

If you can play backups your DVD drive is flashed.

Connecting to live and updating your dash won't unflash your DVD drive.

As the others said, you might be able to reflash your drive back to stock, but you could still end up being banned because you have played backups.

When was your console manufactured, and what is the dash version? If it's old enough you may be able to JTAG it - it still won't allow you on live, but you can do loads more things than just play backups (run emulators and other homebrew, use third party hard drives, etc.)

Thanks again for all the help. sorry that i am new at this. THe Xbox before has never been online. it was modded apparently right away. ALso after i flash the DVD drive, and then completely clean out the HDD like clear out any users and Gamescore, then Xbox live cant detect anything right? should just look like new empty xbox360?

It's not that simple. The theory is that the 360 stores other information (e.g. about playing backups) in the NAND, and that it reports that information back to Microsoft when you connect to live.

Unfortunately your xbox can't be JTAG hacked - it's too new, and the dash is too recent.
