hey guys,

I have been a follower for some time and you all have helped me through quite a few xboxs... I just picked up another box to fix (rrod).  That's no problem but my question since I'm at work and wil stop by the pc shop if necessary, is I have the activation disc downloaded and burned.  Can I just use this with a stock non modded firmware or does the dvd drive have to be modded for the activation disc to work or can I leave the drive with the stocl microsoft firmware.. I only post now cuz I'm at work and if I have to flash it I'll stop and get a via card but if I can just use the activation disk I won't bother.. And I have absolutely no interest in going online and understand the activation disk has no security measureson it.   Thank you for ur help in advance..

wouldn't be much of a security feature if you could use a burned activation disc to run copies of an original fw. why would anyone bother with flashing their firmware if this would have worked.....

answer; you need to flash the firmware if you want to use the activation disc
