Solder Tutorial For 360nandflasher?
« on: April 05, 2010, 06:52:00 AM »

When I installed mine, I thought it would be nice to have a more detailed install diagram...but it wasn't that bad.  Look close at the video and you can see which points he is prepping before his hand blocks your view while he's installing the actual module.

Also, look at the diagrams on their webpage for the JTAG module.  In the video located on their webpage, the wires are reversed.  The red JTAG wire goes to DB1F1 and blue goes to the other spot.

I don't think it'll be hard, just was wondering if anybody had one or knew if there was going to be one released since the item has been released and it's pretty poor to not have any tutorial at all except a bunch of random links added together on their site.

Also, do you mean the correct wires are the ones in the diagram or the ones on the video? I'm confused by your last sentence, sorry!

Edit: Okay, it seems that from the diagram, red is the DB1F1 wire like you said and Blue goes to the underside or the RF Module.

Pretty bad to have a video showing off installation and not even having the correct wires installed. Real good way to completely confuse people which is why I think it would have been smart to actual have a tutorial for installation rather than a bunch of random links and information.

I agree with the tutorial and the wires being mismatched in the video.  I'm wasn't sure whether to follow the guide for the quick solder modules, or follow the video.  I decided to follow the quick solder module guide and luckily it all went well for me.  The only other issue I had was needing to solder a 330Ohm resistor into the JTAG module to make my 16MB Jasper work.

The reading / writing is super fast and really made things a breeze once I spent the 10 minutes or so soldering the modules in.

Am I going to need the same resistor for my Falcon?

I've got a few 330 ohms, but I am confused by how you soldered it into Module C.

Any chance of a picture? I'd rather go ahead and solder the resistor since I've read it may be needed.

I do not have a picture, and I would take one but my box is already put back together.  All that I did was solder the JTAG module (module C) onto the board, and then clipped the legs on a 330Ohm resistor and soldered it to the top of the quick solder pad on points "L" and "L1".  It's the bridge for the JTAG, so adding a resistor in between those two points will essentially do the same thing and allow you to use the JTAG module.

Your other option is to not use the JTAG module.  All you'll need is two diodes, a little bit of wire, and the 330Ohm resistor.  I like the JTAG module, but if you're not comfortable soldering a resistor into it, it may be easier to do to the standard JTAG wiring.

Note:  This would only apply if you need the 330Ohm to cure the E79 problem.

Ah, okay thanks. I wasn't sure if I could just solder the resistor the two L and L1 points or if I needed to do something else.

I'll do it without first to see if I get any errors and if I do then I'll solder the resistor and bridge the L and L1 points.

Thanks.
