Banned Jtag - Question.
« on: March 19, 2010, 12:33:00 AM »

Ok so here is my situation... this may be stupid but everything that I am doing really is just to learn and do it just so I can say I have and know whats up etc etc...

So I had or have a  unmodded box that I used for xbox live play. It had a 60 gig hard drive.

I had another box I repaired with xclamp type fix...which has worked for a long time
this box did not have or come with a HDD...but was exploitable with jtag...

SO I wanted to do the jtag but knew I would need a HDD..and since I was learning I did not know if I had to have one installed or not for xbr etc etc.. I did not know at the time I may have been able to just use a sata or usb hard drive (I still don't know really how or if that could be done)

So I took my 60 gig from my unmodded box and used it on the successful jtagged box.

So then I wanted to do the famous mw2 10th prestige KNOWING I would be banned.
So that was successful playing from hard drive learning about the hacks etc etc....

What I do not know and would like help is

1. Is my 60 gig hard drive "crippled" ?
I do not know because I read it should be? but everything still works for what I am asking it.
I am NOT a gamer really so I have no save games no videos no nothing just the jtag stuff.
So I hear that everything should still work but only on the jtagged system that it was banned with?

Well I want to move it to the unmodded box again so I can play when I want...then install a sata or usb hard drive for the jtagged box...

But I do not want to move it over to the unmodded box in fear it will flag that box and get banned maybe from live on that console which would render it useless really.

So since I do not care about anything really on that hard drive I can always recover my gamer tag...should I format it?  Would that "de cripple" it?  Where do I format it ? On the jtag box or on the unmodded box that would not flag the unmodded box as soon as I plug it in to format?

Anyway I hope this makes some kind of sense..

I  am now on to unbanning the jtagged console, and I will or could do that with a new hard drive.
Not going back on live with it anymore though... just want to do it.

Did you make a backup of your NAND before you went on XBLive with your JTAG'ed Xbox? If so, just restore it then you won't have to worry about "unbanning/uncrippling" it. If you didn't make a backup then you are, well, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif) ...

When you get banned your hard drive doesn't get crippled the Xbox itself does. So yes, you can take that hard drive and use it on your other, unbanned, Xbox. You may have to recover your profile on that Xbox because I have seen them get corrupted from the banning.

Cool thank you ... that is what I was thinking off.
Of course I have original nand lol like 5 of them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So flash with original nand... then reflash xbr with new kv/cpu and I am back to normal again.?

THANK YOU!

Even easier - just extract the kv and config from your good nand dumps - flash XBR over to the NAND, then inject your KV and Config.

Ok.. so I have rawkv.bin, kv.enc, & kv.dec from the UNBANNED NAND.

I do NOT have config.bin for EITHER system.

I have not flashed xbr in the past with config.bin because some state it could cause issues???

It has worked so far without needing it.

So.  what YOU are saying is...
extract the config.bin from unbanned nand...  using flash tool extract (I already have kv.enc & .dec)

flash clean image of xbr back OVER banned nand (using erase first right)

then write kv.ENC???  or KV.DEC into new xbr nand image on console...
using   --->   nandpro lpt: -w16 kv.enc 1 1

then write config file into nand using nandpro command:
nandpro lpt: -r16 config.bin 3de 2

now the unbanned kv & config came from a falcon and it is going on a xenon...so do I use the same config.bin from the unbanned box?

Hope this makes sense.

So now that I changed the kv and unbanned myself...

xbox live would not allow a new profile to be created for live on my hard drive.

It would only allow a memory unit to be used.

It said something to the effect of ...cannot save profile to hard drive unit please choose another memory unit.

anyone know how to fix this?   Don't really know if I really care or not because I really don't need to go on live, I am just trying to understand what is going on.

I thought patching and reflashing xbr with new key vault and config fixes HDD crippling.?

Thanks

Just allow the xbox to format the drive.  Go to system then memory then hit Y and type in the serial number (if im remembering correctly)

thanks for the reply...but that kinda defeats the point of "un crippling" it doesn't it?

IF this is a crippled HDD how can that be...since I erased banned xbr nand....then reflashed with new xbr image AND kv .

I thought ALL the info about the hdd is located in the nand?   NOT on the hard drive.  Secdata.bin is in the nand image.

So since I reflashed the nand with clean image... this more than likely is NOT a crippled HDD?
And is something else that I did wrong maybe?
