Red Ring Jtag
« on: March 17, 2010, 06:44:00 AM »

Ok, so in a bit of a dilemma here.

I have a Jtagged 360.  Everything was working fine.  Running games from an external HDD.

I was in the middle of xex patching an iso when the power in the house went out.

after a few moments the power comes back on, go to turn the 360 on.

Bam, 3 red rings!

Could the failed patch have ruined my console beyond repair?  Does anybody know if this is an easy fix?

The console already has the xclamp fix with AS5 thermal paste.   Tried tightening the screws on the bottom. Even leaving it off overnight in hopes it would alleviate itself.

Still boots up with the red ring.  nothing was moved or disturbed at all.

Any ideas? blink.gif

Whats the secondary error code (ie hold sync button down and press eject - 4 lights = 0, 1=1, 2=2, 3=3).

Secondary code, after pressing sync + eject after red rings happen,  is 4 rapid flashing red lights.

edit:

ok did the full secondary code, didnt realize i had to do it four times to get the full number.

lights were 4,1,4,2

so error code 0104?

dont know what that means.

thanks for the fast replies.

A little searching goes a long way. Here is a link to Xbox error codes.

0102 / E18: Error in the "Digital Backbone" (CPU/GPU/RAM), this is  usually caused by a cold solder joint between the GPU and the mainboard.
There  are two theories to fixing this one deals with the "X" clamps that hold down the chips. The other  involves re-Heating the chips. DO NOT attempt either of  these if your console is still under warranty. If your console is still  under warranty return it to the store where it was purchased or call MS  to have it replaced.
