Good Nand Dump, Xbr Not Booting. Arghhhh!
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:12:00 PM »

My title and description pretty much sums it up. I have a Falcon mobo with K:5761. I have made 3 dumps of my original nand. Compared with total commander, no differences. Have jtag in place (used Grims guide) and original nand boots fine. When flashed with XBR I get 1 red light (lower right) and no video. So answer me this..... 50 people say orig. nand will NOT work w/jtag installed, 50 others say it WILL. So.....which one is it?  It would certainly help me out during trouble shooting to know which one is correct.

I have tried leaving rawconfig.bin out, no luck. I have triple checked all of my solder points.  I make custom arcade sticks and have modded over 30 XB1's, so I'm confident in my soldering. Anyway, enough history. Here is the only thing I have not tried......sending rawkv.bin after flashing xbr.bin. I sort of tried the 330 ohm resistor trick (I only had 220's) and that didn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. 100 heads are better than 1  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  Many thanks in advance.

get a Cygnos V2 and go with a dual NAND setup.. I've done 3 and they all work.. From Zephyr to Falcon.

Cygnos site says it only works with non-hdmi consoles. Also, this 360 is a repaired RROD (no, that's not my problem, I checked) so I don't want to invest any money in it. Thank you for your suggestion. I'm just interested in getting my current set up working.

Your original NAND should boot fine with the JTAG wiring in place if you wired it with the diodes and not the older method with resistors. Did you check your dumps in Degraded to see if you have any bad blocks? Also, have you tried flashing just XeLL(ous) to see if that works?

wrong!!  Cygnos v2 works on all xploitable 16mb NAND's.  They are releasing Rev F next week to work on 256/512 systems also

Thank you. I was hoping I would hear from you. Degraded reports no bad blocks. Have not tried Xell yet. That was my next course of action (before 330ohm resistors). I flashed my orig. nand back last night. I'll get Xell flashed when I get home and see what happens. BTW, something else I can't find a definitive answer on. I've been testing over HDMI. Should I be using something else, like VGA or Composite?  I'll feel like a real @$$ If that was my problem.  Thanks again.

XBR works over HDMI, Xell/Xellous doesn't.

Ok, found out I've been shooting myself in the foot a little bit. I came home and flashed original nand with Xell.  This time I connected the 360 via VGA cable and I now have video. However, my video is the E79 screen. I still have the lower right red light as well. Next step is the 330 ohm resistor. Don't think it will work since the 220 ohm didn't. I may also change the diodes out....just for kicks.

Well, tried a 330 and 470 ohm resistors.....no go. Still getting E79 and 1 RL. Next up is the diodes I guess. BTW, I'm using alternate solder points as shown in the forums here. Man......getting...........frustrated (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif)

I had the same problem, for me i solved it by a reflash and injecting the kv in to the custom flash before flashing the custom flash over, maybe this will help.BTW I left the cfg out.

Thank you for the input. Are you using a 330 ohm resistor or not?  That is how I did my first XBR attempt but I didn't have the resistor in. I currently have Xell flashed in with the orginal nand (Flashed original, then send xell).

I just resoldered everything and replaced the diodes. Still E79 and 1 red light. Is there any way (besides xell loading) that I can verify that my jtag wiring is good?  Remember: My orginal nand boots fine with jtag in place. Many thanks again to all that have helped.

Well, another day and still no progress. Been looking around the forums a bit and noticed a few things about using zephyr xell for CB 5761. This is the version I have. Anybody know anything about this? I've come the the conclusion it is something going on with the flash. Dunno (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)  All of my jtag wiring has been move to the bottom of the board. Everything looks/tests good.

You havent said if you have tried Xellous.

See this guide for info on how to do it.
