I have completed the JTAG on my 256 MB Jasper. My profile is stored on the HDD only - MU is blank but formatted.
I need to add the Avatar update in order to play some of my games.

I know that installing the avatar update (or anything else) to the onboard MU will probably corrupt the XBR.
I've searched carefully and read what seem to be at least three methods of getting the Avatar update onto a BB Jasper while keeping XBR intact.

1st method- run nandpro lpt: -e256 1000, which is supposed to leave the internal MU showing as "unformatted", then extract/copy $SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip from a usb thumbdrive - this is supposed to force the update onto the HDD rather than the internal MU. Will this really leave XBR untouched?

2nd method- extract/run $SystemUpdate_Fall09_8955.zip from a usb thumbdrive while making sure that your profile is stored only on the attached HDD and not the internal MU - I read at least one post that says that the avatar update gets stored on the same memory devices as  your profile is stored, regardless of whether you have a BB nand

3rd method - connect a HDD from another xbox 360 that has avatars on the HDD and copy some files over to the JTAGged HDD via FTP

I would like to know which of these actually works and which is the safest way to get avatars on a BB nand.

#2 seems the easiest, and doesn't require me to open the box. However, I'm worried that it may just install to the internal MU without asking - which would corrupt XBR.

#1 makes sense as it should also keep myself and others from accidentally saving anything onto the internal MU, but will leaving the internal MU unformatted cause any issues?

Can anyone who has applied the avatar update to a BB Jasper confirm the method what menthod they used?

Thanks
