I have not seen anything specific to this question.

Are you using all of your games in unpadded GOD created containers, or just extracting the games to human understandable directories on the drive.

Can anyone argue why one is preferred to the other?  Are there any games that will work in GOD containers that do not work when extracted?

Now that there are dashboards that can launch either it seems like extracting the contents to a human readable format would be ideal, since you can then patch files if needed ever without rebuilding a container then uploading the whole thing again.  Not to mention organizing from a filesystem level is just more obvious.

The only negative I could think of with extraction is that it with a large drive, having all GOD containers might create far less fragmented files causing GOD loading performance to be better then a drive with games that have been extracted to the drive.

Curious how others are organizing their stuff.

I use to use GODs but I switched to extracted games now.  I store the extracted iso's on the internal HDD.  I just like how it's easier to manage since I can tell which folder is which game.  hdd:\games\gamename instead of hdd:\\content\000000000\584JGDW.

For me COD: MW2 didn't work as a GOD for some reason... as extracted ISO, it works.  I launch the games from Freestyle or quickboot links.

Does extracting the game remove the padding like say Iso2God does?

Yes it totally does.  Cause you're copying all the files only.  Example.  Sonic and Sega Racing is around 7GB.  When you extract it, it's less than 4GB.   So you shaved off 3GB.

Well unless someone lists some compelling reason to switch to GOD containers I will continue to extract and organize my stuff in easy to read/manager directory names under whatever device:/games/

I do believe on a large drive with MANY games would loose some performance in extracted format vs GOD containers since all the files are sequential in the container so some of the games with LARGE number of files should see some performance hit in extracted form especially if fragmentation comes into play although using a 7200 RPM drive I would guess should limit that hit, so far I have been happy and it is much easier to put and pull files for modifying games in extracted form.

Has anyone run into ANY issues having spaces in their directory names? I have read a few posts here and there were people claim it's good not to have spaces in your extracted dir names in your /games/ directory.  I have spaces in many of mine and have had no issues yet with Freestyle, or from NXE with quickboot links.

All my games have spaces and no issues.  I think there is a limit on the length though.  I think it's FATX like the xbox1.

Fragmentation could be an issue if you constantly delete and add games.  But for me, once I add my back, i don't delete it so that isn't an issue.
