Well if you want to flash it then its recommended you do a complete firmware dump.

It doesnt matter what version your LO drive is because that method works on all of them. Jungleflasher will automatically load the correct firmware for you so this solves everything.

wow i thought i didn't have to do any soldering and what not, the only thing i thought i had to do was use an extractor kit and use the jungleflasher, this just got much harder

ok so from what i can gather with the tutorial im reading, i don't have to do the MRA if i don't want to on a virgin liteon, what is the disadvantage of not doing the MRA?? and just going straight into half open closed dvd tray and forward with the probing ??

You lose the calibration data, (not a big deal, i have done over 100 lite on with the probe and they all work)

The other disadvantage is you have to buy alot of extra things and wait around for them to arrive. But if your not confident in your soldering skills then you are best to get a probe.
