E79 Error On A Jtag Falcon
« on: February 03, 2010, 10:57:00 AM »

This is my third JTAG xbox so i'm not new to the scene.

How ever it is the first falcon i tried.

1. All the soldering points are correct
2. The diodes are in place and placed correctly
3. Dumping nand was flawless
4. Writing nand also without a problem

On boot i get a E79 error. I've tried it over 3 times now, Even dit the whole soldering proces again.

When i restore the nand to orginal and remove the XBR traces it boots fine.

Have you tried replacing the diodes with new ones? 1 diode could be faulty and giving you the e79.

Try booting the original dash with the JTAG wires in place. If it doesn't boot then it's your JTAG wiring.

Also, (and I'm sure you've already tried this), flash XBR over then inject only your kv. If that doesn't work, then try injecting config.

when i restore the original nand, it wont boot ( 3 red lights ) When i remove the xbr wires ( the jtag stays in place ) the console boots fine.

I've tried injecting the KV and config but the xbox wont boot at all, just a black screen and the centre green light keeps flashing.

How'd you  mean 'remove the XBR wire' and 'the JTAG stays in place'?

These ar the JTAG wires:

The others are the LPT/Nand flashing wires. If you leave the wires in above, and the others (but not hooked up to a PC), the 360 should still boot to it's original dash. If it doesn't, then the JTAG wiring isn't quite right?

sorry,

I mean that  the Jtag wires have been removed and the LPT/NAND stay in place.

I'm trying it all over again.

Restored the orginal nand, works perfect.

Reading it out now, so far 2 different dump, small differences. Doing 2 more dumps to be sure.

Resoldered erverthing over and used new resistors and diodes.

Lets see what will happen (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

try soldering on the RF board to pin 6 instead of 2 and see if that works. Also when I jtaged my falcon I found that I can solder onto the motherboard equivalent of pin 6 and it will still work as well as localize your wiring more and allow you to actually be able to close your case. The pin 2 soldering point on the RF adapter was an error I believe.

ya I also used a 330 ohm resistor got mine from radioshack I used the 330 ohm 1/4 watt resistors because they were out of the 1/2 watt versions and worked fine.(just in case you where stuck in the store like me for twenty minutes doing a little dance out of nervousness as to spend the remainder of your 5 dollars on resistors that you have no idea of knowing if they will work until you get home or not) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

only few snags ive had with falcons and my pc

I have to write xbr raw (stock) and then inject kv via nandpro lpt , and injecting config does not work for me i leave it out

and dbf1 on two boards i couldnt get it to take right even on the ftu12 on bottom ( it looked clean and great ) ive jtaged 5 falcons and only was able to connect to db1 once on top , once from bottom the other three had to etch a trace and pick up on that

those are the snags ive hit with falcons hope it helps

330 ohm resistor needed for the jtag bridge point.

I had exactly same nightmare with my Falcon. Lost count on how many times I rewired and re-flashed.

Been running fine for 3 days now, not a single RROD.
