Seems odd that XBR would crap-out frequently (although you never know with Zephyr's). I think it's a hardware issue by the sounds of it. Double check your soldering from bridges/grounding and cold solder joints. To eliminate grounding, cover your points with electrical tape.

Doesnt 4 red lights indicates there's a problem with the AV cable or maybe the AV output? I know the older consoles also show 4 red lights when there's no AV cable connected. Thats still doesnt explain why reflashing brought it back to life but i thought i should just mention it.

Yeah the 4 red lights used to flash when you didn't have any video cables plugged in. This was different though because I was actually playing the console at the time, and the lights were just staying on. Someone else on the forums was having a similar issue with the RoL and I think he had a zephyr or falcon. Some one suggested thicker wires, which I tried to no avail. Could the 330 resistor instead of the wire be a solution? Double checked for no shorts, sucked some extra solder off with some braid

Your only using wires for the jtag hack? Anyway use this method with switching diodes. Goodluck!

Ps im using kynar wire for the hack so it doesnt need to be thick wire.

i'd only previously seen the shenanigans on zephyrs, but today i booted my falcon using the controller's guide button and the falcon powered on with two red lights (upper left and lower right) and the other two were normal. went into freestyle because i just wanted to transfer a file, did it, powered off. waited 15s, powered on the same way, everything was normal.

a few zephyrs i've done have exhibited similar weirdness, but never any issues - most of the zeyphrs i've done have thrown random e79's, but those go away when i only flash the kv and not the kv + bin - other people have reported this not fixing problems for them, so ymmv.

so far this falcon has had zero problems, i'll report back if anything starts to go south.

There seem to be a problem with the zephyr's+xbr. Many people get e79 or 0022, so im pretty sure they are looking into the problem atm. Atleast i hope for you  smile.gif
