Ripping Games With A Jtagged Box, Then Burning The Rip.
« on: January 23, 2010, 03:08:00 PM »

Confused about where to post so mod please move this thread wherever it should go.

Ripped a few of my games to my 360 HDD runnin XBR3 (256 jasp).
Now, for a few of those games, I lost the .iso's due to my PC harddrive takin a crap on me. So has anyone ripped a 360 original and/or 360 backup using XeXLoader/XeXMenu and then succesfully burnt the data (rebuilt into an iso + dvd file for layerbreak), allowing you to play it on a non- XBR box?

I'm in the process of my 1st attempt, so I'll post inst. when I get it all working.

On a side note... Seeing as how XBR 3.X+ now patches the .xex on the fly for devkit mode, I would assume that it would have to be repatched as retail and all that for the non- XBR yes?

Also, there's a good chance the data on retail discs is arranged in a way to minimize loading times by keeping data sets close together physically.  For example, the music, map, and texture files for one level might be all clumped together in one part of the disc, while the similar data set for the next level might be in successive tracks.

By organizing the physical structure logically, you minimize travel time by the DVD laser.

If you simply copy the data off the disc onto a USB drive, you lose the location data.

I was curious about the same thing, repacking the data files so that a DVD backup could be burned.  I know that XDVDMulleter can repack these files, it's given as an option when proceeding through the wizard, but I don't know what the end result is.
