so of course i have a jtag 360 running fine , things have a lot of rock band songs that wont work
could the live flag be in a diferent location ?

both yaris swap and another app i used ( cant member name ) report them as unflagged
they load up and are shown just do the usual thing with RB were if they from a different 360 (once u highlight a song if it doesnt start to preview , play some of the music ) it wont play and game will freeze
 have latest t_u for it any ideas ?

If you are talking about imported songs (from the game disk) from rock band 1, that you are trying to play in rock band 2 then they won't work , you would need to re-import them with the license (you can yaris-swap the license to do that) and game update from rock band 1.

If its really downloaded songs , then you need the latest game update to get your songs to load in rock band 2. Older songs don't need the update , but all the songs released in the past year need the game update to work.

the yaris swap didnt work on the import license for rb1 songs , and i'm thinking your right i dont have the game update
 scared to go on xbl w/jtag wonder how long ill last ? 1- 10 mins lol

if i knew how  to decrypt the mogg in the dlc (googled my a off nothing i read worked) i could probbably just rebuild it with these http://creators.rock.../tools/download

but hell if that worked you wouldnt need a jtag console to play dlc ?

Can you please describe in a bit more detail (or direct me to a link) that explains how to import RB1 songs into a jtagged xbreboot xbox. I have no trouble getting RB DLCs to work, but I can't find any info on how to import RB1 songs without going on live and doing it the standard way. Thanks very much!

You need to grab the dlc named : "Rock Band Song Exporter License" which , if you bought it , is located at : content\0000000000\45410829\00000002\1AF6435FAF551FECE2FE3229FBBD9C1C7D32498345 of your 360 hdd.  If you didn't buy it on another console, you will have to locate it yourself on the internet.

Once you have that file,  run it through Yaris-Swap, and place it back exactly in the same folder, on your 360 hdd.

You also need the latest rock band 1 game update , placed in your cache folder : TU_12K2219_0000004000000.0000000000181

Now, i only tried this on a retail disc (backups will work for sure) but not with a usb hdd install. (I think with xbr v3 , it should also work from usb hdd now, since updates are applied, you probably can't from usb hdd under freeboot for now)


Once you have both the license (swapped) and the update, just run the game , there is an extra option in the data management screen (if i remember correctly, that's where it is) that will let you "export" the songs.  There are still 2 songs that won't export , since the license doesn't allow it , Enter Sandman and Run to the hills,  but , maybe if you renamed the files to others that are exported , and export them a second time, the songs might export? That's just a loose thought , that i will try later, but right now i can't be bothered.

Now, your rock band 1 exported songs are available (and playable/preview) in rock band 2.


As someone told me on this forum, since Jan. 1 2009 (1 year ago) Harmonix changed the encryption method , so that people couldn't use "Arktool", the tool used to decrypt .mogg files, v7 works with newest encryption , but is very very hard to find (i never found it) since harmonix had it removed from all sites hosting it, threatening to take legal actions against people who host/distribute the file.

The new encryption, will cause newest DLC not to preview or play, since your rock band 2 doesn't understand it, and so you need the latest game update from rock band 2 , to play all the dlc that came out in the past year.  update is : TU_12K2239_000000C000000.0000000000183 , which should be in cache folder of your hdd. I couldn't get my Pearl Jam Ten album to work prior to using the game updates, which was released in march 2009.

Again: On freeboot 0.02, and xbr v1 , game updates can't be used from a modified .xex (if you patched it to devkit , to play off usb hdd) so only retail and backups could be used to export rock band songs.  There is a way to apply the patches directly to the .xex , but it doesn't work for all games, since some games have other files to add/patch, and that is now obsolete with xbr v3 since .xex don't need to be devkit patched anymore.

i,ll grab the latest t_u , use an unmodifed xex , run on xbr_3 give it a test ..was using a modded xex to lauch prior

and yeah i had no luck finding arktool v7 either

im going to have to try this out. I purchased a few songs for rb1 but havent tried anything on rb2. Its too bad i didnt download the license though... cant since im already jtagged.

Great post!  I hit a snag, though.  I Yaris-swapped my copy of content\0000000000\45410829\00000002\1AF6435FAF551FECE2FE3229FBBD9C1C7D32498345 and put it on my XBR 8955_3 system, but when I choose "Export Songs," it wants me to sign in to Live.  Did I mess up somewhere?

i got rb1 disc songs imported to rb2 and their working. Only thing i CANT get to work is songs purchased as DLC. Gives me the error "The song data you were accessing has become unavailable..".

how did u get the rb songs1 to work lithium ?

also when u grab the title update make sure its the one for rock band 2 , I made the mistake of dling rock band 1 t_u ....its easy to do its at the top if you search for just  rock band ..then its 2nd one down
if u search rock band 2 then you will see it

im exporting songs now had to connect to live wish me luck i just grabbed the license (already purchased before) started extraction and snagged the lan cable out

anyone booting rb2 from xex loader v.24 with unmodified xex ? mine boots to error screen

First off some of my specs for my console:

Xbox 360 NTSC-U w/ jtag & flashed: "XBReboot v0.05 8955_3a for Falcon"

I made sure i had the latest updates for both RB1 & RB2 in the cache folder and im using;

RB1 (NTSC-U): Rock Band TU #5 - "TU_12K2219_0000004000000.0000000000181"

RB2 (NTSC-U): Rock Band TU 2 #5 - "TU_12K2239_000000C000000.0000000000183"

License Exporter (yaris 0.3): Partition 3\Content\0000000000000000\45410829\00000002\1AF6435FAF551FECE2FE3229FBBD9C1C7D32498345

Both RB1 & 2 are NTSC and are not Region Free or PAL. Loaded from disc not from USB or even installed on the stock hdd.   Loaded RB1, selected export titles and it worked. Also note: used my profile which was used for both RB1 and RB2 which was LIVE enabled (used it before LIVE expired and to also purchase RB1 songs). Its not a offline profile. Console was never banned either.

Oh mistake i made on my previous post about DLC not working. I thought i ran it through yaris but i guess i didnt lol!  I can confirm purchased songs from DLC are also working from RB1 to RB2.  

RB1 songs are stored in "45410829\00000001" Also had the folder "45410829\00090000" but that was empty.
