Did You Flash Your Dvd After Jtag/homebrew?
« on: December 16, 2009, 11:07:00 PM »

Hi Guys

I've recently jtag/xbreboot my xbox 360. I've found that running backups from the hard drive using xexloader is still far from perfect and was considering flashing my drive with ixtreme to enable the old style of running backups from the dvd or installing from dvd to the MS hard drive using the MS dash method.

Is it common practice for people to perform both mods i.e jtag + ixtreme or is everyone keeping the dvd firmware stock and just playing from the hard drive with modified xexs?

Cheers

Yeah I'm 99% sure they don't either I was just more interested in whether most people still thought it was worthwhile modding the dvd drive as well. I also would be interested if it's possible that xbr could eventually integrate a function that bypasses the need to mod the dvd firmware to read backups on disc (don't even know if this is technically possible)

Another possibility is just modding the dvd drive through the use of our homebrew. All the components are there for the mod, just need the software.

I actually ended up flashing my ts-h943 w/ IX 1.61 shortly after installing XBReboot just because. no issues here.

If you have loaded XBR or Freeboot you don't need firmware to play off discs anymore, but you must extract the ISO and burn just the raw files.

I have modded my drive with the 1.51fw for samsung since I don't want to ever flash it again when a new wave comes out, this firmware should just boot anything, since it's never going on LIVE again stealth is a non issue and you shouldn't bother, but by flashing the drive you can still burn the ISOs and play them without the need to extract all the files before you burn.
