Where To Start With Homebrew
« on: February 03, 2020, 11:47:00 AM »

I've posted my fair share of why-don't-you-search-first posts. I've looked all over though and in multiple places. I'm pretty lost at this point.

I've done a bunch of firmware mods over the past couple of years for the 360 but wanted to get my hands dirty with all this homebrew coming out. Did xbox 1's for years and wii's and psp's and what not but I would love to start playing with xbox360 homebrew.

Please point me to where I can find a tutorial or some simple "start here" instructions. With the textbook out there and all the great tut's on xbox-scene it's pretty easy to figure out how to do anything but I can't find some clear direction for all the xex loaders, jtag exploits and junk.

I just need a link or some steps to get going. I have two boxes, one is an arcade bought in 2009 with HDMI and the other is an old pro system (one of the originals I think).

Do I need a modchip? I'd like to order one now if that is the case.
What other hardware do I need? (read about a parallel cord or something)

Please help me out and if you want to tell me I'm an idiot cause I don't know better, well I guess I kinda deserve that I guess.

Okay first of you need to know it you have an eploitable Kernel, If you haveplayed any wave 4 games or conencted to live int he last six months you are out of luck.

As for guide there is one floating around. When i get home later I will post a link for you here and you can check it out.

Also you don't need a modchip u can actually flash the onboard nand with XBR.

i think buying the cygnos v2 is still the easiest method, I havent done it yet but thats the method Im planning on using. It integrates the JTAG hack and IIRC theres less wires to solder, not to mention theres another NAND.

Heres a thread I started a little while ago about the same thing, hopefully it will provide some useful info.
