Getting Ready To Jtag - A Few Questions
« on: December 10, 2009, 11:55:00 AM »

i have not finished my xbrebootrter project yet.
but what i have read tells me that you canot run a microsoft kernal of 855 you must run the xboxrebooter kernal to be able to play the most curent games and keep homebrew.
if u put a microsoft official kernal on it blows ur fuse and you loose all acces to your nad (for now)
when you boot into the xbox rebooter 855 it has a vitual fuse.

hope you understand my rambalings.

take this with a pinch of salt, I don't even own an xbox 360, but IIRC you can prevent any changes to the efuses removing the resistor labeled as R6T3.

This is true, but even with it removed its still a bad idea to update.

If you update to 8xxx with R6T3 still present it will blow the CB lockdown efuse and you will not be able to run the exploit ever again. If you try to update to 8xxx with R6T3 removed, it will fail.

If you want to run the exploit and also go on Live, buy a second console.

4) with the 8955 dash you can READ and WRITE your nand, you just can't do the jtag hack....
5) quit ditching school  and drinking and smoking pot dammit:P
and finally I do hope you  are not modding your friends boxes and spreading this kind of post around... blink.gif jesus

Actually, he wasn't contradicting any of that. He was saying that if you run the 8955 dash, you WILL burn the efuse set and be unable to use homebrew on that machine. FreeBoot/XboxReboot allow you to reboot into a patched 8955 kernel, which uses a virtual fuseset (so you can keep homebrew, AND run new games).

He did imply that access to the nand was restricted, however, which isn't true by update. I have noticed that MS Center refurbs have the SPI disabled, though.
