Downgrading Nand Kernel?
« on: December 06, 2009, 12:19:00 PM »

Ok, so I know that I have a Opus/Falcon xbox 360 motherboard with the 8955 kernel. And that I can not run a hack with that kernel. But I also know that I would be able to downgrade to an exploitable kernel with an infectus mod chip. My question is though, would I be able to downgrade with a db25 printer cable instead of paying for the mod chip. It basically does the same thing right?

So is this the same case with the infectus chip as well?

So after research I do believe this to be blocked but still don't understand why? Something to do with the CB or CPU key? Anyways, is there anyway I could get an exploitable kernel, without buying a new 360 at the moment? Infectus, Cygnos, XD card w/Nand, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/uhh.gif)  anything?

M$ "blew a fuse" inside the cpu if im not mistaken (i believe they are called efuses) with the newest update. And they also changed the way the cb behaves on startup. unfortunately it locks you out even with a cygnos chip. Somebody correct me if I am mistaken but I believe that is what happened

you'll have to wait and hope someone figures out another exploit. or go buy another box  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/pop.gif)

Noooooooooo!, ah well. I love how there are like 4 ways to actually hack the xbox 360 but only if I never updated the kernel. I really hope someone figures out a way to bypass the efuse problem soon.

It's that they patched the bootloader with the update. With the new bootloader they patched an exploit so now with the newer bootloader it won't lad xell to get your cpu key. Also I think it did blow some efuses so you can't downgrade your bootloader.

If i remember right you can remove resistor R6T3 from the mobo and it will stop blowing efuses so you can downgrade.

but it wont reverse the process

blowing another efuse is not a problem I have to worry about, since I got Banned from xbox live, and I don't plan on updating to any new features besides homebrew (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

there's no way to bypass an Efuse and all information is now locked into it....hole closed for good....
this is why the new custom chips are being made with the Efuses and decoy Efuses...it's called tamper proof
we can thank IBM and also most of the public hacking and showing off......
pretty soon it's going to be worse as you try to tamper with a circuit and it will shut down (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
wave of the future........

according to wikipedia its reversible, just might take awhile before someone figures out how to reverse it

No, it is not reversible. The technology allows for it to be reversible, but the ones fitted in the xbox CPU do not have the required connections to program them back to 1's, for security reasons.
