Arcade Demo to Full Conversion for Homebrew 360s
« Reply #30 on: December 04, 2009, 02:35:00 AM »

All these recent breakthrough are making me very excited.  When I heard that they were going to be releasing this hack I went out and bought a spare 360 that is hackable just to do this.

Got a question though,  I plugged my LIVE console's hard drive into the other xbox with the exploitable kernal, and as soon as it turned on it asked me to update the console,  i realized that it must of saved the summer update on the HDD and told it not to update the console and turned it off right away and took out the hdd.  I have yet to do the JTAG hack on the console but I want to make sure that it didnt install the modified bootloader even though i told it not to.  Any thoughts?

i think you should be fine, as the bootloader is probably packed inside the file with the rest of the updates.

Yeah Im hoping so, dont know why kind of slimy tricks MS would pull though to stop this hack.  Just want to make sure before i got dump 70 bucks on a cygnos to find out my bootloader was updated.  I know I could do a nandump and look at the CB value or whatever it is, but my computer doesnt have a LPT port.

With this will we still be able to earn achievements and then take profile to a non modified xbox and have the achievements uploaded?

You're fine, it doesn't update the bootloader unless you say yes. Grab a hdd access tool and delete the update from the hdd if you want to be able to use it on both consoles.

I assume MS can detect this type of mod.

Has anyone tried going on live with a Homebrew enabled xbox 360?

I thought the rebooter reboots us into the latest non-explotable kernel in a virtual manner while allowing us to keep the exploitable kernel untouched.

I'm assuming that if you are going to run an exploited 360 its now time to DEFINATELY! remove R6T3 resistor to prevent any sneak attempts by MS trying to blow the fuse so you cant boot into Xell smile.gif (and of course the free 8955 dash)

Removal of R6T3 does NOT prevent the CB from being updated. It's this which causes the XeLL to stop functioning.

I thought that the NXE could not run with out that resistor in place.

hmmm.

 confusing.

http://www.free60.org/R6T3

according to that post, removal of that resistor will prevent any attempts of burning efuses, also, wouldn't the unsigned 8955 not worry about the status of this resistor ? (I'm assuming checks would be removed)

Normally it cant, in the freeboot case the NXE currently runs with 'virtual fuses'.
