Maybe I should have put in the OP: "No one on this thread cares about whether your (or your friend's) xbox got banned'. MS aren't the only ones to know a thing or two about the dvd drive protocol; am I naive in hoping that someone on the forum devoted to that very topic does?
I asked two questions about the ixtreme firmwares and one about the protocol. There has been only one attempt to answer any of those questions, and it was gave an "I think" answer about 1.51.
Well for #1 in your original post you would need someone intimate with the workings of the firmware to answer that and that pretty much means c4eva but im guessing hes a little busy
For #2 again there is no clear answer. The difference between stealth and non-stealth firmwares is that the non-stealth doesnt prevent you from playing bad rips so in a way your assumption is correct... that with non-stealth you are safe as long as your discs are good, however since nobody knows (or if they know they havent revealed it) what is actually causing these bans we cant say for sure.
I have not seen a single user with 1.4 non-stealth saying they have been banned and about 9 or 10 that are running 1.4 non-stealth and havent been banned.
It would be awesome if c4eva would just let us know if its safe as he says he knows what the cause of the bans is but again hes busy. The only real "safe" thing to do is wait for iXtreme Lite Touch.
