Disc Read Errors

Hello,
So My samsung ms25 drive died but i bought a "new" ms28 drive on ebay to replace it.  I flashed it with ixtreme 1.61 with my key.. .. Heres what happens.

I put in Borderlands - Cannot read disc
I put in an older game say Dead Space - loads fine
I put in Street fighter 4 - loads fine
I put in Fifa - cannot read disc
I put in Halo 3 ODST - Cannot read disc
I put in prototype - cannot read disc
I put in katamari - reads fine

These discs should be fine no scratches or anything and they worked on my friends flashed hitachi a week ago.  So my question:
Is this a faulty drive?  I dunno why it'd read SOME perfectly fine though?
Bad flash? or bad firmware?
Bad discs somehow?
Broken stuff inside my 360?

Originally I thought its because I spoofed this ms28 back as ms25 so I reflashed it as a ms28 drive and still the same crap happens.

You are not the only one having this problem, check out this thread http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=696351 . Seems like ixtreme 1.61 is faulty after all.

I just went down to ixtreme 1.6 which WAS working on my old Drive and the games still dont run.


So is it a faulty new drive? cant be the laser cuz real games work fine and most burned?.

Maybe its just memorex discs xD

Same problem here. act dsk doesnt work either on mine. does the dashboard need to be updated?

All dirty disc errors usually come down to Media.  I had all sorts of problems until I used Verbatims.  Never looked back..
