Usb is faster. LPT is old parallel port for printers much slower.

usb is a lot faster but more complicated to build. lpt cable takes only a few dollars and 5 minutes.

I believe the CPU key comes into play here.  If you don't know your CPU key then I assume this is impossible.  Also, if you do know it, it might still not be possible.  But yes, if you don't know your key, forget it, I think.

just to be clear here... if i will make a dump of my nand (newest update) now of my unbanned console, and my console gets banned later on, i can flash the backup of the nand back to the console and "unban" (in the meaning of hdd install functinality and no savegame/profile corruption) the console as long as i stay offline? all that even if i cant get the cpu key as i got latest dash?

If a future update burns an efuse, your old image will no longer be valid.

Except you dont want to do the jtag wires as they are useless to you.
Also writing xell to the nand is useless.

The only way to get cpukey is with xell.
Only way to run xell is with a dash below 8XXXX which means you havnt been on live for 3 months and havnt been banned.

the issues stands up, is with the banned consoles with no back up...
the question:"can I restore a back up from a non banned console, to a banned console, and make the HDD work again, for offline purposes?" still remain in the air, as long as nobody try do do something, or there is no such kind of workaround...

if you make an unbanned backup, get banned, you can flash back unbanned dump to restore functionality except xbox live. if you know your cpukey, youre much better off.
