It's possible to boot run XELL and get the CPU KEY if the system has RROD with 0102 code ?

Do you know what your dashboard version was at?

If it was 84xx or higher than absolutely not.

Still waiting on what wattage everyone is using for the resistors.

I bought 1/4 watt 100 ohm resistors.  Will this be ok?

1/4W is the arbitrary "standard," at least if memory serves me correctly. I used 1/2 watt 100 ohm resistors and they work just fine.

So, yes. That will be OK.

Hi Everyone,   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)  Been reading and doing this for days now

What other other tools can I use to Verify the NANDs? HEX WorkShop shows a few "Insertion", Deletions,Etc.

I just dont want to Dump and Flash a NAND if it isnt 100% complete. Hex shows missing or extra bits in every dump.

Trying to get HDD Un-Banned for now, Linux later when we have a "FALCON_hack.bin"

I have dumped 5 different NANDs, File Compared in HEX WorkShop, and each is different. Event though I get NO errors in DOS Prompt from NandPro 2.

3x NAND Dumps with NO VGA cable plugged in, NO DVD installed, so just PLAIN Falcon Board powered by brick

2x NAND Dumps WITH VGA cable plugged in, NO DVD installed, so just PLAIN Falcon Board powered by brick

i dont thing VGA Cable isn't needed to Dump the NAND, but just in case I tried both.

I just used an MD5 hash to check that my NANDs matched. It worked out quite well for me.

Forgive me if I give really basic suggestions of what to check, but even the best overlook the small things. I'd guess your connections are shorting out or something simple along those lines. Make sure none of your wires or resistors are touching and that the soldered points are not overlapping.

Are you using a diode on J1D2.4? If not, go ahead and use a diode and see if your NANDs match after that.

If all of these things are good, I'd recommend checking your LPT connection on the PC you're using. Make sure the cable is plugged in tightly and correctly.

If none of these suggestions changes anything, I'd recommend switching PCs and seeing if that gives you different results.

The VGA cable should not affect your NAND dumps in any way. The 360 isn't powered on during the operation so an unplugged or plugged VGA cable holds no sway over anything.

As for Linux: If your box is crippled, it's been updated with the Summer '09 Update which closed the necessary exploits for running XeLL and you won't be able to run XeLL or Linux on it... for now, at least.  wink.gif

Thanx for the quick reply Aldanga.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Yes, i have the Diode( 1N914 Black strip to 360 MoBo), 5x 100ohm 1/4 WATT res. on the 25p LPT. Cable length is about 12-16 inches.

The 5 Dumps i took were in ECP+EPP mode, my PC doesnt have SPP mode.

making 2 more dumps now in LPT Bi-Directional Mode thru the BIOS Settings on PC

Also, 360 Flash tool cant be used to verify my NANDs, it will only do .RAW files. Anything else i can use to verify the NANDs?

Thanks

It been collecting dust for at least 6 months. I flash xell onto it and when turn on it giving me 3 RROD (i have the 3 resistors in the correct pins) error code is 0102.

I remember when it died on me i tried the heat gun method couldn't get it back to live. Now i wanted to get the key vault from there and patch into my banned console but can't get the cpu key.

I spent days trying to get matching dumps with 0 bad pages. In the end, installing a text printer driver made all the difference.

Try that if you haven't already and make sure you've deleted any other already installed printers

I am at my wits end here. I simply want to dump my nand so I can do the hdd uncripple.
I have tried EVERYTHING and I just can't get nandpro to detect my flash controller.
I have tested my connections over and over from the underside of the board to the  pins on the lpt plug. I have tried with resistors and without, with a diode on the motherboard and without. I have tried 3 PCs including a P4 with a 3.3v lpt and an old P3 laptop.
No matter what I do nandpro doesn't offer a whimper, it always says that it can't detect the flash controller.

I am able to switch on the 360 while it's connected up and if I run nandpro the 360 switches off while trying to detect the lpt (is this normal)

Can anyone help please? I've been messing with this for the last 3 days and it's driving me insane (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Do you think there is something wrong with my 360 that is stopping me from reading the nand? The 360 still functions as normal when I use it for games, etc

For the record I have tried every lpt in every mode (spp, ecp, epp, normal, bidirectional)
I have installed DLPortIO and tried in Windows 7 and Windows XP 32Bit.
I have a Falcon, if that makes any difference. I am only trying to read the nand and not do the jtag as my box has been updated since Summer 09.

Why have you been using the bottom of the board instead of the top?

I am currently reading my nand a few times.  So far Nandpro2 has not produced any errors.

I found it much easier to use to bottom of the motherboard as it had pads I could easily solder too.  Since they were the same points as the top (used a continuity meter to make sure) I did not see a problem.

I will report back when I am either done or have problems.

I am using a 10+ year old computer with Windows 98 on it.  Seems to read the nand with no problem.

I didn't solder to the bottom, I tested for continuity from the bottom as an extra check after already testing from my top solder points. Tried some more last night and nandpro always goes through looking for the flash controller on the various lpt addresses and never finds it. Really frustrating.

Ah, I see. Seems I misread. The late night issues strike again! laugh.gif

Have you tried to install a printer driver? Is your parallel plug any good? That is to say, does it make contact with the pins on the motherboard? I've had issues with mine I salvaged because it's slightly bent. If ever NandPro doesn't find the flash controller it's been because the DB25 plug wasn't making good contact. After some adjustments it always reads the flash controller just fine. (I've had some issues with bad reads, but those have all been rectified with some ingenuity.)

I haven't tried to install a printer driver but would it help?
I tried 3 different PCs so I'd be surprised if they all had bad lpt ports (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I tested the voltages coming from pins 2 - 9 and on one PC it was 4.7v and another was 3.3v.
I have tried 2 different lpt plugs and I also test voltages coming from the lpt port at the solder points on the back of the plug so I assume it is making good contact.
I am really out of ideas. Unless there is an issue with my switching diode, is it easy to blow these things? Maybe I should try another.

Incredibly sorry if this has been posted already, but I was wondering if you could use a female parralel port connector and then use a male to male cable to hook it to the pc? I'd like to permanently add the port to the back of my 360 for future updates etc
