with out the diode its giving me

Maybe check the mode for your lpt port in your bios settings.  Try EPP or APC, recheck the wires, or you may have to try another pc.

Can I trouble you with another question?

I've gone out and bought everything I need (thought I was given the wrong resistors at first before realising you read 5 band ones in a different way).  My question is regarding the wire - I have bought some single strand 0.6mm wire and the guy in the shop said it was only rated for 1 amp.  Now I'm guessing that this is plenty but just wanted to check.

Cheers

What information is stored in the NAND that is specific to individual consoles? Other than the DVD  Drive ID key. Am I right in thinking that the XBOX Live ID is stored in the NAND? In which case if we new the CPU key could we create a modified NXE NAND with different DVD keys?

How does the NAND cryptography work? Is there any info out there on this?

So in theory, it would be possible to encrypt a decrypted NAND flash from another console with the CPU key of the recipient console effectively "cloning" an XBOX 360? Or is the NAND data authenticated against something on the CPU (such  as the CPU key)

You have to use a VGA cable, does the unit turn on?

Hawk

No i plug the unit in, plug the vga in, press the power button on the unit and it remains completely unresponsive, as if i were trying to turn it on wihtout the power plugged in, i feel like the unit has not reset the SMC after nand flashing has begun, maybe ill try reflashing the original nand dump and hope for the best   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

wait* just re read your post, you NEED a vga? not A/V? in that case ill go buy one but the xbox is still completely unresponsive? is this normal?

still nothing after vga cable attached, attempting to reflash original dump after resoldering to make it cleaner

Out off interest, why is it neccessary to connect the 360 with a VGA cable? If I were to guess, i'd say that the GPU isn't fully functional when your dumping the NAND?

I use just ribbon cable oer 30gauge wire.

Yeah VGA is required it's the only mode supportes with the hacked_xenon.bin.

See above, the vga cable has to be connected when you go to test on the tv.

Hawk or any 1 else out there.

Does the diode need to be directly soldered onto the motherboard or can we solder inside the D25 port shell next the same way we did with the 100ohm resistors its self?  or anywhere on the cable for that matter?

I removed all the resistors and just used a really old laptop with a 3.3v lpt.
It read everything but I get 3 errors in the same place with the same error code.

dumped it twice and hash matches even with that errors,
Error 250 block 24,27,29

Im guessing it might be corruption on the nand so do you think its ok to write the hack.bin or should I keep trying intill I dont get those errors.

Best to run it past Tmpbinc, I had some 258 errors that were the same over a few reads, he said they should be nothing to worry about and he was right, My dump runs fine after flashing Xenon_hack.bin then flashing nand.bin back smile.gif

The diode should be soldered to the board of the 360.  As this has been the most effective way for most people.  Those that solder to the db25 still get the same errors, but once soldered to the MB it was fine.  I know from personal experience that this happened to me, and so I put the diode's on the board.

tiros is who does the coding for NandPro not tmbinc.  He knows about it of coarse, but tiros was the author.

Just a quick post to say thanks for your great diagram.  This made it really clear what need to be wired to where.

I have just successfully flashed one of my 360, and more surprising given my soldering skills it actually worked first time!

Cheers
