QUOTE
I'm guessing my LPT cable is too long at 170cm

I agree - its too long. My cable is 40 cm. Try such lenght. And its better if all wires are twisted together (like a cable for LAN Ethernet).

Well I tried halving the length of the lead to 80cm and now I get FlashConfig:00012000 instead of FlashConfig:01198010  blink.gif I've checked the cable but something's obviously not right.  mad.gif

80cm is about the shortest that I can use and allow me to get from the back of the PC to the Xbox in front, but if that's still too long I'll have to rearrange my PC so that I can put the xbox on top or something.

For the 100ohm resistors, does it matter what wattage the resistor are (1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1 watt)?

Is there a specific wattage I should get or it does not matter.

Well I shortened the unused wires on the cable, which I'd left 170cm long as I'd already sealed them, and that got me back to FlashConfig:01198010.

Installing a text printer driver was the final step to get me a dump with 0 bad pages  biggrin.gif

I know this is the board I need to do USB flashing: http://www.sparkfun....products_id=676 but can someone please confirm that this is the cable I'll need to program the USB board: http://www.sparkfun....products_id=275

Some have also pointed at this one: http://www.sparkfun....products_id=714 but I'd much rather buy the one I linked first since it supports more microcontrollers than just the LPC21xx series.

Well i ordered some of those diodes as i mentioned earlier in the thread - ended up driving to a friends house an hour or so away. Found a maplins on the way and went and bought a diode from there (24p lol)

Come home, tried it on the LPT plug but didnt work, but soldered direct to motherboard and its dumping fine.

Have got to go out now, so hopefully will have dumped the first one and ill get the second to dump later and hopefully finish off tommorrow =)

edit: I started getting errors at blocks 240?

I cancelled and will retry later/tommorrow.

any ideas?

cheers

I can get everything soldered together except for the 6th (magenta) point on J1D2. It's a bugger. I've tried two different boards and the solder just won't stick. I don't have any flux on me at the moment--although I did order some--but I wondering if anyone else had this issue or any advice for me until the flux arrives.

Thanks for the info, mate.

I managed to get it to stick on one board (thankfully), but I'm glad I won't have to use that point again. It seems I can use any ground point on the 360 instead of J1D1.6 or J2B1.12.

My life just got a whole lot easier.  biggrin.gif

As far as I've heard, you're not supposed to turn on your 360 while it's connected to your PC via LPT. I've now successfully dumped two NANDs and merely had both of them plugged into the wall while I was dumping.

I don't know if that cable is too long. Mine wasn't more than a foot long, so I can't comment on how long is too long.

I haven't yet done my Falcon board, so I don't have any experience on potential issues with those points. However, I will try to help if I can. Are any of your wires touching each other? and is one of the ground points correctly placed? are your resistors and diode oriented correctly?

You're right, its not supposed to be turned on, BUT it SHOULD turn on.

Everything looks fine, diode is facing the mobo, no shorts.
Thanks for your reply, though!

Also, should i treat a Jasper the same way as a Xenon when reading the NAND?

When you read it out, you just need to have the correct -r parameters (16, 256, or 512), depending on the size of the NAND. That's the only difference of which I'm aware between Jaspers and older consoles.

Did you run port95nt.exe before running NandPro? That's the last thing I've got in terms of what could be causing the problem.

Yes,i've ran it.
Even installed some weird usb driver manually when all else failed, made no difference.

I just remembered I had a similar issue with one of my Xenon boards. It was because the LPT connector wasn't plugging into the PC correctly. I jiggled it and adjusted it and it worked just fine after that. You might want to try that if you haven't already. Then try another PC if that fails. You might just have a bad parallel port.

Still waiting on what wattage everyone is using for the resistors.

I bought 1/4 watt 100 ohm resistors.  Will this be ok?

It's possible to boot run XELL and get the CPU KEY if the system has RROD with 0102 code ?
