Just received my pre-mod today; and while it does appear to be flashed correctly, and runs pressed discs fine, backups are either getting a dirty disc error, or will play for a few minutes and then lockup. All images have been patched, etc. I have attempted 3 different types of DVD+R DL media: TDK, Verbatim (KMC) and Verbatim Lightscribe; yet all seem to have the exact same issue, and neither seems to perform even marginally better than another.

I am using a Sony Optiarc 7241s; and have attempted burns with the latest versions of ImgBurn and CloneCD. From what I have read, I should be burning these 8x rated discs at 4x or 8x. Burning the .dvd file.

Really just at a loss as to what to try next. Different burner? Update to bitsetting firmware? Set bitsetting info within ImgBurn (although I don't see an Optiarc tab)? Sound like an issue with the 360 drive/laser itself?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated...

How are you making your backup? Also try burning at 2.4x with imgburn using one of your verbatim disk.

Thanks for the recommendation, but appears to be a no-go on the Verbatim and TDK. I also tried manually setting the booktype to NEC/DVD+R DL/DVD-ROM to no avail either. Both discs ran fine, then locked up on pause.
