Will this new update interfere with me playing my "backed up" 360 games either offline or on LIVE? I haven't updated it yet so let me know

If you are that worried about getting banned then you might as well unplug the ethernet cable. BUT if you are gonna do that its as good as being banned so just play online but to do that you have to update.

You took the risk when you modded, nobody knows what if how when and why you get banned.

I understand. I just wanted to know though if the update itself disables the modding i did so after the update I can't get on live anymore or play my backup games.

No, the update won't interfere with your DVD drive's ability to load your copied games.

Additionally, it's too soon to be certain if Microsoft has included new methods to detect modified consoles with the update. When your system becomes able to play copied games, you should be aware that a ban for it is always possible.
