Dosflash16 1.8 + Liteon V2 Drive Flashing Questions.
« on: August 10, 2009, 02:47:00 PM »

Hello! I have a quick few questions about flashing the new liteon with the new new dosflash16.

Please note that I CAN NOT use Jungleflasher. My Chipset is Intel , and i DO NOT HAVE any IDE slots for a VIA SATA expansion. I have tried numerous times to get JF to work and it will not see my DVD drive, so PLEASE just comment on dosflash16 answers. Thanks

I was reading that the new Dosflash16 1.8 will now support Liteon v2 flashing using manual mode.

It says:
CODE
DosFlash V1.8
---------------
- now supports LiteOn PLDS DG-16D2S 83850C V2 Geremia/Maximus LiteOn FreeKey method
- huge firmware read/write speed increase, especially if run from a floppy disk
- updated IDE/SATA motherboard chipset list
- new IDE/SATA detection for Windows and DOS
- DosFlash.typ embedded in executable file
- LiteOn V1 drive key is now extracted 10 times and compared against each other,
after the extraction a summary is displayed sorted by the most common matches
- LiteOn V2 drive key is extracted 2 times and compared
- new BenQ unlock keys added to unlock all known BenQ drive firmwares
- command line parameter "EnableDrives" removed, DosFlash asks the user on
application close if he wants to enable the drives or not, during the tests it
seems that IDE drives have problems with the enable, SATA drives seem to
  work fine
- new 64-bit DosFlash edition added called DosFlash64, because some driver
functions don't work as expected in the 32 bit compatibility mode on Windows x64
- Beta state removed
- ready and tested on Windows7 X86 and x64

Geremia/Maximus FreeKey method with DosFlash16
------------------------------------------------
We have added one cmd line parameter for DosFlash16 in manual mode. The COM port
is simply ignored and can have any value for the V2 drives.
Use the following command line to extract your free key from 83850C:
- DosFlash LITEON K 0970 1 inquiry.bin identify.bin key.bin dummy.bin enckey.bin

After I boot in dos mode and have my liteon turned on (powered by the 360 and hooked to sata to computer, Do I need to put the liteon in "halfway open" mode?

Also, Will i need to have freekey and LO83info.EXE on my USB drive to use the manual mode on Dosflash16?

from what I gathered by reading a few posts, It looks that I can do my v2 Liteon the exact same way as I would do my Benq(but use manual mode instead), right?

Do I just hookup my liteon v2 DVD drive, boot in dos, type in: "DosFlash LITEON K 0970 1 inquiry.bin identify.bin key.bin dummy.bin enckey.bin" and then it writes all those files?

Then I assume I just open up key.bin once in windows with firmware toolbox, copy key, and then load the Liteon hacked firmware, and replace the key on the hacked firmware with the one I just copied?

Did I miss anything? Is there anything I have to do with the other files that were extracted? I thought there was something I needed to do with inquiry.bin file, but I am not exactly sure... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Also, after I replace the Key in key.bin(and do whatever else there is needed to do with the files I get off the Liteon v2 drive) What do I need to do to put the hacked firmware/files on my drive again? Can this be accomplished by just going into dosflash and typing dosflash and pressing w(write) when it asks?

I'm trying to do this ALL through dos(besides replacing the key in firmware toolbox and saving the hacked.bin.

Please let me know if I am missing any steps and if I have to have my liteon in "halfway open" mode when using dosflash16 . Also please help me with the correct step to write the hacked files back onto my liteon drive v2 through dosflash16.

Thanks in advance!!

IDE is a old connection for hdd's so im kinda lost what you mean there. PCI slots are used to add sata pci card. And i dont think jungleflasher supports the 8 serie but i think its coming soon. I will search a tutorial for you.

I was reading a few things about the new 1.8. Looks great. I can try out my friends Liteon tomorrow. I hooked up my benq just to do a test run on it. Auto mode works same as before(AFAIK).

After I get the inquir/ident/dummy/key.bin files. Will 1.8 let me flash as well? Which one(s) do I need to open in Firmware Toolbox to get the original key? Will dosflash 1.8 let me write the hacked firmware? Just trying to get a heads up on what to do with the 4 files after I get them (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)... Thanks!

Also. After I get those 4 files, Could I flash it to a benq drive and spoof it as the liteon 8x?
