Hitachi To Lite-on Spoof
« on: July 04, 2009, 01:00:00 PM »

I have searched all over and I can't find any good info or guides on this.  Unless I am just blind.

I have a Lite-on that is crapping out on me and I have a Hitachi 78FK lying around from a RROD 360.

I need some step by step instructions on how to spoof the Hitachi to appear as a Lite-on using Jungleflasher.

I have tried several different ways and I can even get jungleflasher to read the hitachi as a lite-on, but when I plug it into the xbox 360 games won't work.

I am sure I am missing something stupid and easy, but I need a fresh set of eyes.

A link to a guide or step by step instructions would be fuckin' great.

Flash it back to stock 1st...

Then Flash the hitachi to 1.6 as a normal Hitachi then click flash spoof data, select Liteon and supply it with your Inquiry.bin from the Liteon. then click flash key sector and supply it with your key.bin from the liteon.

I am not too sure if the order matters as I have only had to do one Hitachi to liteon spoof. It worked anyways (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

After you have flashed it, it doesnt hurt to do a dump of the drive to make sure it's got the right info. You are sure you have the correct key for the liteon?

TBH I would have gone on ebay and purchased a Benq laser to fix the Liteon as it's an overall better drive.

I just had an old hitachi lying around I didn't buy anything.
I am trying not to.

I think I have a good key.

Here it what is shows when I load the dummy.bin in jungleflasher

Not exactly I changed some numbers for security, but that is the gist of it.  Now it does have FF twice in it, but I have had keys in the past that were like that and it turned out fine.

One thing that is weird is the Inquiry.bin shows the last alphanumeric digit as 0 and on the lite on barcode the last digit is a D.  The rest of the numbers/letters match.  this may be normal but this my first attempt at spoofing so I really know nothing other than what i've read in the past hour or so.

I did what you said, but I used the barcode instead of the inquiry.bin.  Now I am gonna go back through and redo using the inquiry.bin.  Shouldn't that be the same though?

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I know you didnt buy anything I was just saying you would have a better drive with the Liteon, I hate hitachi drives (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I cannot say wether the key looks good or not, I take it your Liteon is flashed so it should be (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Why hide the key, its not like anyone else can use it or use it to get you banned.

I am not sure about the barcode but lat time I had to manually make a dummy.bin I think the last D doesnt come into it (AFAIK)

Use the Inquiry.bin as thats what it's there for (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I can't get it to work.  The only thing I can guess is the Hitachi drive was bad to begin with.

I can't remember what 360 it came from so it most likely is just a bad drive.

I am just going to either buy a new lite-on OR have someone send me a preflashed one with my key.

Thanks for your help.  Ironically I didn't need it because I was doing it right, but with a damn broken drive.

Seriously thanks for your help and fast replies.  If it wasn't for you I would've thought I was doing something wrong and I would've tried and tried and tried and tried a billion different things.  I am OCD about things like this.  Can't sleep until I figure it out.

Yeah I just used a benq I had in another system just to check and the hitachi was just dead.  I pulled it from a no power console so I never knew if it was good or not.

As to this thread being closed I read the rules and in this thread we are talking about switching firmware just to fix a broken drive, not modding a drive to play burnt games.  I haven't even mentioned ixtreme or anything like that myself.
So I thought that would be OK.  I weighed the rules before asking this.

But if I didn't understand them correctly and this falls under the piracy category I apologize and close the thread.  I was just focuses on fixing something broken not piracy.
