What Are The Consequences Of Being Banned?
« on: May 31, 2009, 01:35:00 PM »

I am thinking about modding a 360 system at a friends house because he gave me permission to do so.

I just want to 100% know the consequences of getting banned before I do it to make sure we are ready to deal with them.

I have read (please tell me if wrong or if there is more to consider):

1. Banned from live, but thats ok because you can get on live using a different account.

2. All data from the banned console won't be read on other consoles, but you can still play games on the console fine.

3. Need to burn games using a Dual Layer Media Burner and on what kinda DVDs?

4. Can the HD be used on other systems?

Is that all?

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.

If you get banned you will only lose all of your xbox live capilities on your console, the console gets banned not the profile. So you can take your profile to a new console and continue to play online if you do get banned. Verbatim are usually the best to burn your games on. And yes you can harddrive and use it on different consoles.

Thanks for the information.

Results:
1. Banned from live, but thats ok because you can get on live using a different account - Account Ban

2. LOAD OF BS

3. Need to burn games using a Dual Layer Media Burner and on what kinda DVDs? Dual Layer DVD's, preferably Verbatim

4. Can the HD be used on other systems? Yes

EDIT
Two Different Kinds of Bans:
1. Account - Gamertag banned from live, must make a new one.
2. Console - Banned from live, gamertag works on other systems.

NEW QUESTIONS!
1. Should I use +R or -R DVDs (what is the difference also)? DVD+R DL

2. Also what is the best program to use for burning the games?

I use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs. Never had a problem. I always burn at 2.4x as well. I have always used Clonecd to burn my games as well.

I think I want to do the flash with jungleflasher.

Questions:
1. Is it ok to just hook the 360 DVD-ROM Drive into the computer or do I actually need to use some kind of external power source?

2. Do we need to buy one of those PCI VIA cards?

3. Sata to USB, will the first one work, or do I need all the parts shown in the 2nd auction?

NOTE
Looking for the easiest way possible to get this done.

Found out my friends 360 is rocking a Toshiba Samsung DVD ROM Drive, I plan to follow this video when flashing:

So every time a new firmware comes out, we have to reopen the xbox 360 case or should we just leave it open?

don't leave it open, buy a $5 case tool and it will take you a couple minutes or less to open it.

Also, the console gets banned not the live account.  making a different account won't do anything.  also, if you are hacking gamesaves or cheating, your account can also get banned (but that is different than playing backups!)  Once the console gets banned, recover your account on another console and start redownloading all you stuff, call microsoft for help if you need too.

Most peopel recommend the pioneer dvd burners.  i have the pioneer dvr-116d, all of them are pretty cheap.  with the pioneers you can turn on variable write which will slow the burner down when needed to reduce the amount of errors.  but it doesn't matter which one you have!  i even use my laptops dl burner sometimes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

i didn't watch your youtube video.  You need to use jungleflasher!  go to www.jungleflasher.net and download the tutorial.  print what you need. read the part that talks about your drive, reread, also read the other manual they have.

Yeah; another vote from JungleFlasher for me to.  Will do a Sammy easily and is by far more user friendly than the DOS equivalent.

Goodluck!
