From xorloser's blog: Everyone has heard about the Xbox360 bans that stop a console from connecting to Xbox Live, however not many people realise that Xbox360 consoles can also be revoked. Below you can find a list of all the currently revoked consoles at the time of the Fall'08 system update release. Read on to find out why and how an Xbox360 gets revoked and what effect it has. Fall'08 Console Revocation List Contents This is a list of the Console IDs of the 433 Xbox360 consoles that had been revoked when the Fall'08 update was released. WHY? There are many reasons why your Xbox360 could get revoked, but generally it means you have done something to piss off MS. So the best way to keep from being revoked? Don't do anything liable to piss off MS. An example of a cause for revocation is the public sharing of your gamesaves or other similar files from your Xbox360 hard drive. This includes making publicly available "resigned" versions of these kinds of files. In order to be revoked you have to have done something that involves your Console ID so that MS has the ID required for revocation. HOW? Revocation is done through the use of Console Revocation Lists (CRLs) such as the list posted above. If your console's ID is present in the revocation list, then your console has been revoked. There are two types of CRLs, static and dynamic. A static list refers to a list that is saved onto the flash inside your Xbox360. This list is updated when system updates are performed on your console. The Fall'08 update contains an encrypted version of this list in the file "$SystemUpdate\su20076000_00000000\data.bin".  When the list is installed onto your console another layer of encryption is added using your Xbox360's unique fusekey and the result is saved to a crl.bin file on the internal flash. A dynamic list refers to a list that is sent to your console when you connect to Xbox Live. This way an updated revocation list can be employed without requiring a system update. SO WHAT? So what does it mean to be revoked? Will I even notice or care? From what I can see so far being revoked means that your console loses its "license to sign". Data that is generated locally on your Xbox360 gets signed by a key unique to your Xbox360. This data includes Gamer Profiles and Saved Games. Being revoked does not mean that you can no longer sign this data, just that other Xbox360s will no longer recognise anything that your Xbox360 signs. Read the Full Story: xorloser.com

so instead of just banning your console from going online M$ has stopped your console from saving any new games or having any new information being processed on it(profiles, installing games to the HDD) So now you are FORCED to start all over on all games and if what I'm reading is correct buy a NEW console just to enjoy any games you have bought. Jeez M$ your freaking out about achievements? I mean I guess achievements are just another way to advertise a game so it sells well but I have never purchased a game soley for the achievements. Though when I do earn them fairly it makes the experience more rewarding I like to play the game and enjoy it first and maybe worry about the achievements second or never if they just seem too pointless to complete.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) Oh well do these publicly "resigned" files get people banned from modifying their game saves on games like Fallout 3 e.g. replenishing your weapons durability, unlimited ammo, etc. Or is it more like someone who gets every achievement for every game in one day just for the gamer score?

Edit: nvm about that signing nonsense I was babling about I just saw read the whole post on the site. Still my last question still stands. If you have played the game and are only modifying the gamesaves for your own amusement.(Fallout 3 is strictly Single Player) then could you still be revoked if you connect to XBL?

as far as i can recall, only 360 users who have uploaded game saves before sites implimented an encryption alogorythm to protect uploaders console ID's have been revoked.  there are way more than 400+ 360 users that have uploaded gamesaves to various sites.

i dont think it has to do with pissing off M$, i havnent heard of to many cases where someone has been revoked out of no where, most people dont even know what it means.  once they are told what it means, its usually, "yep, i think i just got myself revoked"

i am an owner of 2 revoked consoles, one of which has never seen xbox live, so this list is real as any saves or profiles created on this 360 that has never seen live will not load on any other system, i believe this list is also stored in our profile data as i also cant load a profile that wasnt created on this system either, even though it has never seen live.

dont get to worried if you have never uploaded a game save to a web site, this seems to be the only way to get your console ID added to this list.  

if you lagged someone out in halo 3, what kind of punishment would the revoked list be, they are banning you from matching making as punishment, not the revoked list

It's not as if Sony or Nintendo invented the idea of motion sensors. Hell, they may have made it mainstream, but they weren't even the first to introduce motion sensor gaming/entertainment.

Microsoft seem to forget this is a game system. Probably 99% of us do it for fun. They act like an overprotective mother.

All this means is just the console id from all the saved files on your hdd is blacklisted. Which means that that console id located in that save files cannot be used with another xbox. But all you have to do is rehash and resign with a completely random console id    All gamesaves include a console, device, and profile id. So lets say that the profile id doesn't match with the profile, then it will show up as corrupted on the hdd. Profile is obviously for the profile, the device id is locked with the hdd, and the console is locked with the console. Profile and device have to match, but console doesn't have to unless its blacklisted. And besides, we should be able to transfer gamesaves if we want to. No other company had a problem with it till M$. And so what if some people achievement hack. It's not like it's hurting my gameplay. It's just a number, so it don't mean a thing. That's not even cheating if you ask me. My friend is one of those who wrote one of the gamesave resigners, even rehashes profiles. He's even writing a program to achievement hack...the correct way...with the profile.

If they didn't act like this, the cheating would become much more rampant.  I would compare it to legalizing marijuana, if that happened, then a lot more people would do it just because it's legal (not saying that would be a good or bad thing, I don't want to start that argument).  This entire idea of gamerscore/achievements becomes pointless once these cheaters start running rampant.  Some people do enjoy playing games differently to get these achievements (myself included) and comparing them to other gamers.  I figure that if I am paying for xbox live, Microsoft should do their part to keep everything as legit and fair as possible for all gamers, and this is one thing they are doing.

 Well, I think part of the appeal of something that's illegal is the fact that it's not legal. In this case, however, I think they're focusing on the wrong aspect of cheating. In a perfect world, everyone's gamerscore would accurately represent how good they were. However, we live in a world where achievement hackers are cracked down on, while most "glitch exploiters" remain unscathed. Personally, I'm a lot more pissed off when someone crabwalks and kills me on gears than someone who exploited a bug that gave them the seriously achievement.

 Short ver: "People exploiting glitches in online ranked matches are the real problem."

If i remember right Sega possibly Nintendo had the first motion controlled controller. I'm talking almost 20 years ago sometime around the debut of Mortal Kombat. They had made some sort of octagon ring that you stood in, and kicked or punched and it could mimic your movements. It was expensive and i don't think it went mainstream. Also SNES had a Turbo controller that had no d-pad, it was just a circular area and you could move your thumb around, worked like garbage. O and lets not forget about the Power Glove for NES.
