Possible To Ftp Linux Os To Xbox, Not Install Cd
« on: April 04, 2005, 07:57:00 PM »

Is it possible (if yes how) to FTP the Xebian Linux distribution to the xbox hard drive rather than going through the CD install process.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong (burning cds wrong or whatnot) but nothing seems to be working. I burn the 1.1.0-xbox.iso file using nero to a cd and the xbox always shows the drive as being empty. I just want to get a distro installed so I can load MythTV

Any help would be appreciated <

I am sure you heard all these things before, but just to reiterate:

When you put a burned music cd in your xbox and try to play it using the M$ player does it work?  This might be a sign that the dvd-rom is bad or your cd burner doesn't burn good enough cd's.

If your not using CD-RW's you might want to try that.  I have reburned 1 cd with different things about 10 times and it always works.  Also try burning at the slowest speed.

When you put the cd in your windows machine, what shows up?  8 files/folders show up when I explore the v1.1.0 burned cd.  If you don't have that then something went wrong.

And as far as I know it is not possible to do an FTP install with Xebian.  At least I haven't seen anything on it. <
