Boot Discs
« on: November 27, 2008, 06:46:00 AM »

With the new option to install the game, does anyone know what information the xbox looks for on the disc, it would be cool if we could take the data off the disc and have single layer dvd with the dmi and ss stuff but no data on it, this is if the game was first installed with the original.  I'm going to be looking into it and experimenting, ill report back on how it goes, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I have often thought your idea would work. If installation is possible off a dvd surely firmware could flash the same way. After all flashing pioneer dvd's on a pc is as simple with small codec.

good luck hope you pull it off m8

I have removed enough stuff to make the iso under 4.5gb but*** i think the iso is still layered and formated for dvd9, im waiting for it to finish packing.  i really think this would work, i know for a fact it doesn't double check to make sure all the data is on the disc.  please someone help me out, im really not very knowledgeable with this.

Gerr no luck yet, it may not be possible the image needs to be dvd9 i think and converting it to dvd5 im thinking may cause it to not work, although i haven't tested this yet, mulluter rebuild the iso to dvd9 not sure of another program that would pack it as a dvd5 and if that would cause any troubles?  is there a way to make a dvd5 softwarely think its a dvd9 ?

What layer is the SS on? We might need a new iXtreme to tweak where the laser reads if this is possible.
