You really shouldn't get any answer to that one , everyone knows its posted in the rules you use modified firmware at your own risk , no one really knows how they ban systems for sure , but i doubt it is drive specific updates should download and install fine as you are not playing a game , To answer your question
who the f@ck knows but M$ , but worrying about it by drive brand is a little nit picky people tend to be a tad selfish in there thinking , do you think they have a person assigned to watch each individual persons Live activities and rather look for hardware changes on your 360 no. Just do it man take the risk , you know the worst that can happen is you get banned from live , big deal , live with it or just buy a new box and don't mod it its that simple , if your worried about it wait until fall to do your flashing make sure everything is on the good with the new dashboard. I didnt mean to seem like an ass at the beggining but pay some attention i have seen those questions all over this place stop asking about safety of modded firmwares they aren't safe there is no guarantee for anyone because its not legal , and it does break your TOS with Microsoft so therefore they have the right to ban you if they discover such a thing.
