Xbox 360 Shutdown After 5 Minutes
« on: April 28, 2008, 03:20:00 PM »

I have a problem.

I have my Xbox 360 SATA wired to my PC (Intel ICH8R chipset). I start the 360 and after that the PC. Everything starts out fine and I can see the drive and all. 360 LED is flashing green. After approx. 5 minutes, the 360 powers off. Please don't tell me that I have failed! What is happening?

I have not tried shutting down the chip yet to check if the box works at all anymore...

Switching the chip off made the 360 run again normally. Tried it for 20 minutes or so (played some demo). So I don't think I have soldered them so wrong that they touch each other or so. Maybe a solder or two is not soldered well enough?

Do I need to use the CD (don't remember it's name) to get the drive into some real Mode-B? I mean, I do see the drive in Windows explorer, but the system shuts down after 5 mins or so. I don't want to try and be fast, since I tend to be too good of a friend with Mr Murphy and his laws.

You need to have the video cable plugged in to the Xbox 360 (it doesn't need to be connected to the TV) to prevent it from shutting down.

Has nothing to do with the chip..   (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
