Reading Keys From Motherboard
« on: April 06, 2008, 09:02:00 AM »

First off, I would like to say I do not promote and type of piracy.
I have noticed that this xbox 360 motherboard has a hynix chip on it. Is this not the tsop chip that holds all of the in on it. It looks very similar to pics I have seen about a certain Satellite Co. receivers, and their info of all keys and serial numbers are stored there. By using certain pinout from this chip and adding a piece of equipment, called a jtag, the user if now able to read, write, and edit just about anything buy using a program called JKEYS.

Has anybody looked into this??

If this is wrong for posting, Please delete this. and accept my appologies.

thanks

Upon further reading, it seems that the infectus chip does infact do this. But, does it by using a usb 2.0 port. Nice

The chip is encrypted... you can not doa direct read with anything..

Infectus (with added timing attack PCB) allows you to downgrade to an expliotable kernel and then you can extract the key through Linux.

But you NEED a working system (with known key) before you can run the hacks to get the key.

So the short answer is... NO you cant extract the key from the motherboard.  You can get it from the DVD drive much easier.
