Quick Xbl Question

Alright, Im not sure where to ask this but here goes. I have a DVD Drive flashed with iXtreme 1.4 firmware on a Samsung drive. Im playing my games and it says that there is an update for the game and xbox live and asks to update. Will updating this mess with my dvd drive or my custom firmware in anyway?
