Reading A 39vf020

i got 2 of these chips and both appear to read to 256k bin files but when i open the file its just garbage
i'm using a willem pcb 4.5 programmer and a tsop 14mm
ive got 2 different eeproms and they both read the same, ive tried to get the chip ID. but all i get is 0x90 and (----)

cant think of any more info i can give exept im using 0.97ja sorftware and am trying to read on the setting under request adapter 3.3volt  sst 29lf/vf 020 i read that its a bug in the program and it should read sst 39lf/vf 020

Have you read TSOPs before on the Willem? Have you used the Willem before successfully?

ive never read tsop before but i have used the willem quiet a lot it reads and writes everything else fine
ive got 2 willem programmers here one is a older one and i cant read in that either

The TSOP sits upside down in the ZIF socket, in case you're trying to read it with the label facing up!

I only say this as it's not inherently obvious until you actually try to read it and it doesn't work. Also the ZIF pins don't hold the chip in correctly when the label's facing up.

hmmm. ive got it in the programmer and its written on the tsop pin 1 and ive got it to the top (at the end were the lever is) and pin 1 of the eeprom is to the top right

It definitely sits upside-down in the ZIF socket. Just try getting the ID from it - there's only 2 ways it can go when upside-down anyway.

still nothing ive tried the chip upside down and the other way ive got 2 programmers here and they both the same so i'm starting to think its a dodgy add-on i can read and program every ting else fine so i'm going to ask if someone can read these pproms for me

k i done it just to let you know i had to turn off polling for the paralell port
