Benq Drive Flashing
« on: December 17, 2007, 01:56:00 AM »

i've been looking around for the past 2 days trying to find a good tutorial on how to flash the benq drive.
i finally managed to find the ixtreme firmware for the benq drive and found this website:
http://cvirtuoso.wordpress.com/2007/10/31/...-w-via-chipset/
i am using the blaster360. i created a bootable usb drive for DOS and plugged my blaster360 into the primary SATA port on my asus motherboard. i checked out the msinfo32.exe and thought i got the correct sata port range? when i put in the first line in DOS "dosflash r 'sata port' 1 a0 1 4 a:\orig.bin 0" it gives me an error about MTK can't find the port and if i want to try until a port responds but it ends up just sitting there...any help on this or a better benq tutorial? much thanks in advance.

Best Way I have found to flash a Benq

- First you will need Benq.iXtreme.v1.4 and DOSFlash3.2 installed on your PC.  I have WindowsXP. Never tried on Vista cause I don't have it yet.
- With the PC off, connect the Benq to your PCs sata or Sata card make sure it is compatable. Leave the Benq connected to the 360s power supply.
- Turn PC on and boot to Windows XP
- Turn on the 360.
- Start DosFlash3.2
- DosFlash3.2 will ask you if you wanna resend the mtk vendor intro cmd, press Yes
- Turn off the 360 and wait 2 or so seconds the turn the 360 back on.
- You should notice the green power led on the 360 is flashing.  This means the Benq is in modeb.
- DosFlash3.2 will pop up and show the info of the Benq drive.
- Press the Read button and save the firmware as "orig" in the Benq.iXtreme.v1.4 folder you wish. I used 8x
- Now run "Make iXtreme firmware" from that folder.  You will see a new bin file called "ix14"
- The ix14 bin file is the hacked firmware you are going to flash your drive with.
- Now go back to the DosFlash3.2 window and from the drop down window choose "write"
- Now press the "write" button and choose the hacked file you created ix14.bin
- DosFlash32 will show progress of erasing and then writing the banks.
- You are  now done.
