Avoiding The Ban
« on: November 21, 2007, 02:44:00 PM »

Hi. I'm new but I'm not sure if I can post this here but I hope it works..

I've got a Samsung MS28 drive which I flashed myself with the Xtreme 5.2A F/W a few months ago and it has worked fine since with all backups but I've avoided going online for the past few days and haven't been banned yet. Looking at other forums, Extreme 5.2 is out of date and there is a 5.3 available. Will this be OK for Live or is it wise to change it completely to Ixtreme 1.3 and if so, can it be done? I checked the post on the homepage and it said that the games are the problem and 1.3 is fine but no mention of the Xtreme F/W. Most of my backups are stealthed and I hope they would be fine on Extreme 5.2 but I'm not entirely convinced so I'm staying offline until absolutely sure. I suffered the last banning wave and want to avoid it this time round. Could anyone shed some light on this? I would be 'extreme'ly grateful!!! biggrin.gif

i know people who are still using xtreme firmwares and some who are using ixtreme aswell.
Changing to ixtreme is the latest and most sucure firmware at the present moment,so this would be advisable.
BUT not going online will not hide you from ms they will have already flagged you if they could have wanted, even using just off line still changes somestuff the ms can check against.
bottom line is its a cat and mouse game and playing online is done at your own risk, these probably will detect eventually.hope this helps a little
