Samsung Ms25 Update Without Orig.bin?
« on: October 12, 2007, 07:02:00 AM »

Hello,

I am not a complete Noob and have read a lot about flashing but I have one question before I will reflash my 360.

I have bought a 360 that was already flashed with Xtreme FW, I don't know wich version. Now I want to flash it to 1.2revC to be sure I have the newest firmware on it. I don't have the original firmware (orig.bin) but can I use the standard methods to flash the 360? Can the key being copied from the Xtreme fw that is now on the 360?

And is it true that you can flash Samsung drives without going to the orginale firmware (that I have not) first instead of Hitachi drives where you have to go to the original FW first?

I hope some pro can answer my questions.

thanks

Sorry mate this should have been posted in Newbie Chat as the tutorials linked at the top of the forukm answer the question...

The answer is Yes. to both your questions.  Just extract the firmware from the modded drive... extract the key.. place it into v1.2 and flash back.

Samsung flashing replaces the whole firmware so you never have to go back to original.  Hitachi mods only PATCH the firmware.. thats why you need to go back to original so you dont have conflicting matches.

Ok, sorry for that. I will look better first next time. The problem is that the forums are somethimes so huge that I can't find the questions that are asked before, even with the search function.

But thanks for the answer, tonight flashing time :-)
