Dude I solved my issue with the DVD rom always saying OPEN, and when u hit eject that all it ever says, and never says no disk or anything else... well Since I solderd my matrix in, thats when it started... I took a pogo -pin and solderd it to the underneeth of the screw hole of the matrix,  so now it connexts to the screw hole on the xbox mother board, and all is well.. hope that helps you out at all.... if not let me know.. we will see what we can figure out for ya..
