My friend has a modded 360 that got the dreaded 3 rings of death a week ago.  I read a post on here about putting it in the oven to reflow the solder connections and figured why not give it a shot as he was just going to toss it out anyways.  I removed the motherboard from the case and cooked it in the oven and low and behold it has been working for him the last 3 days.  I'm still just completely shocked that it worked.  It did however melt the little blue eject button for the DVD drive in the process so he has to eject it with a toothpick but hey it works.
