Virtual Keyboard In Icewm And
« on: January 11, 2005, 07:47:00 PM »

I essentially have two problems.

First, KDE is entirely too slow, but I like the more graphical interface.  As a result, I want to try Icewm.  I read that there is not a virtual keyboard in it.  Is there one that can be downloaded?  I have a usb keyboard on my computer, but would rather just use the virtual keyboard as connecting and disconnecting is more cumbersome than desired.

Second, and this is even more important if the above is not possible, is that my desktop continues well past the ends of my tv screen.  It is set to HDTV 720p (I am running the hd cables), and my tv is widescreen.  This is very annoying as I cannot see anything on the edges of the desktop, and it is really blurry too.  I figure that is just because I am displaying the os on a tv?

Thanks for all your help.  This is my first time with linux so it is quite an interesting experience...

Oh, I should mention I have a v1.4 with focus chip and an executer 2.6.  I am displaying with the high def pack from MS on a hitachi ultravision 53" widescreen tv.
The display is blurry enough where I can barely look at it, and everything is all cut off.  If someone can give me some info and / or directions (in simple terms - I do not know this stuff real well), I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi dude.
About the screen size,  run "xbvset" as root and read the man page. I dont know how to use it, so I can't help!

The blurring is anti flicker stuff. Take a look at this:

It's a pain in the ass though! And it can fuck up your shit! There must be a better method for this!!!

BTW, if you set the screen to 60Hz, you can keep sharper text, while avoiding the flicker, by disabling it or keeping to low values.

Hope this helps. Please post here your experience with this.  B)
