Most XBox360 on the shelf are actually shipped with a previous kernel so it's not a big deal to date.
If someone got a problem the right decision is sending the XBox360 back (after breaking it) and getting a newer one, with an older kernel.

Before that we need an hassle free exploiting system.
Flashing the kernel to a "homebrew friendly" version comes first.
Dunno if it's feasable easily but surely we'll know soon enough.

If you have a kernel below 4532/4548 you can upgrade 'safely' to 4532 using the burnable HD-DVD software update called HD_DVD_10-2006.zip (the readme includes an URL for it on the MS servers, but the file is already offline ... however I'm sure it'll still out there somewhere, the md5 is cd4db8e2c94266ab73513c361dd5b8f6).

I have a kernel below 4532, but i can't find that file. Was anyone smart enough to keep a copy of it? Please PM me.

Hells yeah! Homebrew time!

But first off, Like ConteZero76 said, we need a workable 100% of the time exploit, and then find a way to Downgrade the kernal without blowing an e-fuse. But i can see how a modchip could work here.

Great job Hackers! Lets keep the good news comin.

"hello World!" lol....

QUOTE(schizzlefuzz @ Mar 2 2007, 08:05 AM) *

If you had the appropriate tools(fancy rework station) and skills, do you think it would be possible to remove the cpu from a broken motherboard with the 4548 kernel and replace the cpu with a blown efuse on a fully functional 4552 motherboard and then downgrade the kernel?  Would be interesting for someone with the right capabilities to try.

That should work, however gonna be hard work and expensive with that CPU. People can start taking paid for that shit....

But hopefully someone will figure out some other solution.

Now when we are inside the box we have a new world to explore.

They are currently working with boot from harddrive... also from ethernet but thats abit harder to do at this moment.

Exellent job!

Even tho over 75 % of the world who owns an xbox 360 plays on xbox live and has there dash updated to the latest. So this is pointless to over half the world since they cant do anything. But for the other 25 % good luck.

Theres alot ya have to do for this even tho its a start. My system will wait for the blaster 360.
im not interested in changing the dashboard, as long as it can play my backups, and hopefully be able to emulate  snes and nes in the some time distant future. i wouldnt slap evox or avalaunch on here. This way i dont have to worry about blowing an efuse. Firmware is still the fastest and safest way.

Keep up the good work gentlemen!

Once they figure out how to downgrade the kernel then its going to be EVEN more of a job to go back & forth,
upgrade the kernel back to the latest, then restore the original firmware. I hope theres an 'All in one' for all of that, or thats going to be too much of a hassle and even more potential problems may occur from doing this over and over. ( accidentally  do it wrong or slip up and your fuc*ed)

We will see, there pretty good about all this, so far so good!

Reminds me of the psp and xbox1 scene when it first started and got that fuzzy feeling inside lol...

hmmmmmmmmmmm

Already got the firmware-hack on one of our 2 xbox 360's
Got a Max232 TTL-Serial adapter
Got King Kong
Got kernel...4552 on both...damn it

the one time i had ever been on xbox live with the firmware hacked one and it just had to be after 4552 patch didnt it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Would it be possible to make a mod chip for the 360 that would just replace the eFuse?  if we could just circumvent the existing efuses with a mod chip(like the xbox1 does with the bios) wouldn't it be possible to downgrade?  For all i know this might have been brought up before however i dont have time to participate in the scene anymore and my modded box keeps me busy....however linux on a 360 would kick ass  love.gif
