Noob, what did you expect?  A fully functioning xbmc360 app or something?  "hello world" is a proof of concept that homebrew CAN be run on it.  The amazing part is not that "hello world" but the fact that the 360 is SHOWING it.

Hah that's the lamest homebrew ever! But yet it is so cool! Hopefully we can see some more complex and usefull homebrew down the road. Nice work whoever the hacker was!

Their is a way to downgrade the Kernal.  It is very dangerous so you don't got the efuse.  But it works.
I just wired mine to be connected without the efuse their and whala.

it can be done.

WOOO! Right, all i need to do now is wait for a small price drop on the core systems smile.gif Im a tight bugger.

If i did buy a new one, is it very likely it would be the right kernal?

ALSO - How likely is it that this mod would be able to be turned off so you can play live? Maybe some sort of switch?! AND if not, say if M$ released XviD support and other enhancments via live, it wouldnt really matter now that homebrew is up and running, right?

hold your horses here... homebrew isn't up and running.. you can't just pop it in and launch it homebrew.. you have to use the serial connection to patch in commands... Not exactly user friendly.

But once everything is sorted out, which may take a few months, there might be small homebrew being developed..

I am hoping mainly for a new media center/media center extender program that don't require MCE, but rather a linux OS and syncs with MythTV.. THAT would be a perfect media center extender!

But for live updates, we won't benefit from them until a linux OS is developed, that will let us log, decrypt and 'crack' the new updates on our own systems so we don't end up losing functionality.. This is where things will get tricky.
Good thing is, we can use USB keyboards and mice without hacking them to bits with the 360 tongue.gif

You guys need to settle down the time will come but it's a long way from here.

No-one knows what the mods are going to be just yet.
My best guess is chip that does the inject to load file from HD or DVD.

But at this stage we need to let those who can do the work actually spend some time on it to find what is the best method and what other exploits may now be available.

If they can downgrade the kernel (which most doubt will happen due to efuse requirements) I'm sure you'll hear about it but if you read over this thread from start to end it's just crazy talk.

I know everyone is excited which is good but you have a wait ahead of you,  before you get anything out of this you can use.
Just don't update at this stage and play the waiting game if you've updated then you still have to wait and / or bite the bullet now and get a 2nd 360.

this is great news, and to all those people bitching about having the new kernel as far as I know the 360 kernel works on patches, ie it loads the kernel then it loads the patches, now that we are able to run unsigned code, there is a possibility the hackers will be able to locate where the patches are stored and modify them.

It is already known where the updates are stored and also how to downgrade. But it's still impossible to downgrade from 4552.

This hack isn't directly useful for end-users. However, it makes it possible to debug a retail Xbox 360 fully, making it possible to develop other exploits.

This is great news. Seriously. Have to get a 360 one of these days (which will never even touch Xbox Live, off course). rolleyes.gif

for anyone choosing to use rapidshare to veiw the screenshot of the resistor when you get to the page with counter for the download ticket and in the address bar put "java script:fc()" (the stuff you put in the address bar has no spaces and no " (speech marks)) and hold enter this will clear the counter loads quicker smile.gif

edit: this could possibly work for other rapidshare downloads as well but i don't know lol

edit1: edited info on address bar text because xbox-scene seems to have a java-script statement security feature
