do you think if you would try to burn a 360 game with just the bootable shit on it you could run it? like it would read that it needs to boot off of the HDD?

Exactly what i've been thinking, But how would it be launched via the 360dash itself?!? You could edit the .xex file and set it to HDD bootable, but what directory would you dump the game to & how would you boot it, there my only problems trying to think about.

Another possible theory........

*******
What about making a burned disc with an xex file using the XDK360? and having it so that lets say you put a modded version of xboxdash.xbe on the disc and the the xex redirect you to the xbe so that when it runs it will launch the normal xbox dashboard but from there get a normal xbox controller and get a way to plug it into the 360 and have a memory card in it with an exploit of some kind to copy and then load from?

I know that sounds a bit too extreme right now but it could possibly get done but I've been hearing somehting called a hypervisor and I'm guessing that restricts you form loading any unknown xbe... tahts not on a certain list... oh well... try it out if someone here is reading this that has the xdk could help us along the way possibly?

Once you edit the .xex file the signature is broken, it won't boot.

Dev units will boot unsigned code, a retail unit can't boot a .xex unless it's signed by M$. So for a dev to create something before it can even run on a stock console it has to go through M$'s signing process.

You guys can forget about editing the .xex files, they are all signed.

I know that when your running source or binaries for Virii or trojans you just use a binder program. Not 100% but you could try going to http://exetools.com/others.htm and using a binder or patching utility. but i think it can only bind exe - exe  not  mp3 - exe  but go ahead and try

Without even using the Firmware patch on stock 360, My friend and i researched into exploiting it. However to my suprise the HDD Accually allowed us to Put files on the HDD, (Yeah, we copied halo 2 to the drive...lol...be hilarious if we got it to run off the HDD) But, we also tried Transporting over the original MSdash from the Xbox 1 i had, and replacing the Xboxdash.xbe on the emulator. (Of course, i backed it up) And transporting the FOnt exploits. Shadow C, and Unleash Was transfered, and I never got finished. Because i had to go somewhere before i had a chance to Figure out how to launch it.

And cant you burn and Launch a Signed XBE? With a rigged Exploit....oh, wait, hypervisor....Damn, back to the drawing board

Put an original xbox game in and it should attempt to run the xbox dash. Would be pretty sweet if it let you emulate a modded xbox1 ;P

wmv do that because its trying to acquire a license for the media, and takes you to a porn site or something cause thats where they said to dl the license from.

i dont know about mp3s, im assuming you mean mp3s or movs with quicktime. that uses another similiar method, which is a vulnerability for running an external js but i doubt any of that would work on the xbox, its mainly a flaw with quicktime and xp

Well here is something that you may nto know. You obviously just read this stuff and dotn try any of it. I have been workign with not just hdd fiels and game saves but with the actual game fiels on the discs. Here is what I know.

Signature files DO NOT become corrupt once viewed or edited as long as you dont edit the actual signature in the file. Usually these are very obviouse so they are not hard to find. However you are partially right in one way. When I first started workign aroudn saved game files I started with full auto and hitman and moved to Gears of war and lost planet. When I got done with all of this I threw them on my HDD and tyred to play them. Now when I got to the point of playign the game some woudl not even load to the main menu and others would not load past the main menu. They woudl all come up with a unreadable disc error.

I worked for a while t find away around this and finally found a back door. My friend posted it for me n other sites btu here you go:

If you want to edit any files on the Hdd includeing the XEX filesfirst copy everythign from the cache and content folders. Delete all the game updates from the 000000000000 Folder. Hell delete the folder. The games wil not load if the updates are still there, somethign with a signature when formatting. Now hook the drive back to the 360 and reformat it. Make sure you are not online and no cable is conected. you do not want any updates downloading on you. Make sure all game discs are out of the system.

Now edit what files you want and put them where they belong. Then transfer all the hdd data back to the drive.

Load up your 360 with the hdd back on it and connect to xbox live. You shouls get a message sayign soemone else has egistered this profile on another console so you will have to go and restore gamertag.

You are now ready to play. Most signature Files will do this to your system such as gamesaves and xex files. I can edit my wallpapers and themes no problem but any main files and well gotta do this.

I promise this works just fine I have sone this with most any fiel type around. If you are stil getting a disc read error then try again. You did somethign wrong or deleted part of the signature inside the file.

Also your signature for your gamertag is inside your gamertag file. just compare the starting hex with a gamesave and find wher it becomes different and there you have it. that is how to edit save fiels to work with your profile from someone elses

sorry for the spelling you must understand its liek 5am here and its been a long day.

i'll try that method out on some PIRS archives... but i can't see it working on xex files. while the 360 can write its own PIRS archives (for game saves, marketplace downloads etc.) it can't sign its own xex files. theres no reason to include that functionality.

nonetheless, this could be extremely useful if you could edit PIRS archives... maybe we could find a poorly coded game which would allow us to run a program, or gamesave cheats could use this..

anyway, i'll report back on what filetypes work/don't work with this...
